Ever been late updating?

wasn't too sure where to put this but X'D MAN...feels bad whenever I end up sooo late to update even though in our team I'm the one in charge of updating the work.

And it's not as if the other team members will be upset, they're super chill actually! haha just wondering if I'm the only one who suddenly becomes jelly after realizing they updated their comic late

quite a lot and the guilt that came with it used to wear me down but one of the things that made me feel better is to accept the fact that i'm sharing my work for free. so as much as i have an "obligation" to my audience i'm still allowed to take breaks, pause updates and so on. plus i've got to consider my own wellbeing so as long as i've communicated with my readers about possible delays or missed updates i don't feel too bad

Nobody cares in my case anyway so it is not a problem . I kind of want to have "Webtoon/Wattpad-type" audience who will yell at me and hold me at gunpoint to update soon, kind of motivating to put into perspective.

XD all the time! Like today was suppose to be the next chapter but I barely finished it Dx and the guilt always gets me of like "Idiot! Why didn't you finish the next chapter?!"

All the time. I have a massive buffer but I constantly forget to actually schedule my chapters. My readers don't seem to mind too much as far as I can tell

Rarely for Tapas. Usually I schedule my episodes straight away after I finish drawing them (normally a few days before update day) but sometimes I get caught up in other tasks and forget to schedule the comic episode.

Has happened mostly on Wattpad because there you've no options to schedule your chapters. Though, I've never experienced readers yell at me or being rude because of late updates. But the bad feeling of not being on time is uncomfortable.

I really appreciate the schedule options that exist when I crosspost on Inkitt and Tapas, makes it so much easier for me.

I'm slowly building up an audience on here, so I will try my best to be on time and dependable creator, both for my readers and myself.

Ive got around 6 strips on standby ready for my 1st release so Im always ahead. Is this the right approach?
Im just starting out (plus its just a funny strip rather than full on narrative) and its learning curve..I bet delays will catch up with me! XD

I set my update schedule very specifically to so that I wouldn't be late. That's why I only upload biweekly right now. I'm very busy and I just can't justify the amount of work it would require of me to put it out weekly or more without being paid a decent wage for the work. It would have to become a full part time job to hit it weekly. I already work 50 hours with an hour commute, try to keep in shape, and have a baby. If I'm putting this out weekly I'm quitting my part time job on Sundays and working 6 hours on each of my days off instead of spending time with my family. I'm not doing that without a reason. I love making comics but I'm not setting everything else on fire to do that. If I was making money worth that time I could justify an hour after work and maybe 3 or 4 straight hours on my days off and manage a weekly update. If it's helping provide for my family I'm willing to do it. But my patreon or general aggregate monthly income from the comic would have to be 3-400$.

tl;dr don't kill yourself to make an update schedule for a comic you're making for free. Make the update schedule meet your ability and needs.

I just update whenever it fits so me and how I am with my life. Like everyone said, you're doing this for free and I do think using the update scheduler on Tapas is helpful for that reason.

I was at least 5 months late on one of my comics and when i finally updated i got a couple of "it's back!!!" comments which... Honestly made my day. I usually don't plan on being late with uploads esp bc I've predrawn so many pages but...when it happems, It happens

Yeah, I have been late to updating a few times; so I make it updating a day or week after.

I am late quite often I am afraid I do what I can. I hardly make any money from my comics, so I don't feel that guilty.

When daylight savings changes I've missed updates, but it's fine really. Everyone does mistakes, and if I can't schedule the episode due to technical issues, I'll just try to warn people on twitter/message wall and hope for the best.

Meh. Making webcomics is a hobby. I used to update pretty religiously and then decided that it made it too stressful and took the fun out of it. I only maintained a respectful schedule when I was on a team and paid to do so. Otherwise, I upload whenever. It doesn't seem to have effected my readers so 🤷‍♀️

I remember back in May of this year I stayed up late until 8-9 a.m because I tried to updated in time on mondays, i wanted to end my eyes and sleep haha (A big mistake and I don't recommend to anyone doing the same)

Part of the reason I got away from making comics is because they were so time-consuming and I had so much other stuff going on and my updates were late like, all the time Thankfully I had some VERY understanding readers that never hassled me about it.

I've been late updating The Remarkable Rabbit Boy on Webtoons quite a few times. I feel so bad about it every time too. It's actually a miracle that I even got to Number 1 in Canvas Top 30 with how often I'm late. My readers there are super supportive though, so maybe that's why.
