despite having 2 comics I'm supposed to be working on, plus a full time job as an illustrator, and like half a dozen other unfinished personal projects, my brain said 'HEY YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU SHOULD DO AN ULTRA-HORNY ISEKAI HAREM SERIES' so I started making an ultra-horny isekai harem series.

At least the cover looks cute. And boy am I proud of that logo design.

Y'all ever just get story ideas that wedge themselves into your brain and try to convince you to do them instead of whatever other ideas you already have? It's like twice a week for me at this point.

I don't think I've mentioned this before but That Stick Figure Isekai is like this perfect project for me where I can have characters from different worlds drop-in, allowing me to flex my creative muscles and vent my scatterbrain. It's almost as if I'm making itty-bitty spin-offs which is funny, because there's only one character I had in mind for that.

Hmm sort of, but in a different direction? For me, it's less 'ooh a new project idea' (though I get that sometimes too) and more 'ooh, a new idea for what I can add to my current project(s)', which result in horrendously bloated drafts and scope creep XD

I do and I usually just let it play out with a brain dump or some sketching. I find that usually when I get an idea for something new it's simply because I've fallen into such a routine with my regular comic work that my creative brain is craving something new. The ideas I have never make very far past that initial brain dump but they've served their purpose for jump starting my creativity for my active project.

Yeah, all the time. I'm usually pretty good at knowing when an idea is just going to stay an idea though, and when it's something I actually want to work on. Of course, I still have too many of those second ones, but at least not every idea drives me to spend time on it.

Yeeah....the list of upcoming comics is pretty big for me right now.

I guess that's why I've taken a break from posting consistently. I wanted to get the list in order, see which ones could be one shots, short comics, and longer arcs. So far, the break has helped me understand the type of brand I've wanted to build and figure out how to properly conceptualize my ideas into scripts.

I think into the next year, I'll start making official buffer for shorter comics and continue with my ongoing ones. Definitely not a consistent person, but eh -- when has webcomics ever been consistent?

Ah, the story of my life... ^^;

In recent years I've been getting better at not taking all my ideas seriously, though. Like, if you can convince yourself that it's okay to have a neat idea and get excited about it, draw characters, write scripts, maybe even tell people about it...but not really commit to it in any substantial way at the end of the day, you will save yourself a lot of existential angst.

Simply taking the time to freely engage in creativity can be its own reward, especially when you already have ongoing projects. I have to admit, it does feel nice to have scripts I can just 'noodle' with, outside of the scripts that I'm actually expected to perfect, draw, and release to the public some time before they completely lose interest (and the whole endeavor becomes pointless...).

Besides, there are other options for backburner ideas...you can draw just one really fun page, or just a couple. =T You can format them into novels, and just draw character art. You can decide to ONLY draw character art, and just freely gush about the characters and their world to whoever will listen.
There are lots of smaller, less ambitious ways to share an idea and/or bring it to life, and I think they're still worthwhile despite their smallness. Better than locking it away and waiting for some magical day when working on 10 long-form comics at once will somehow actually be feasible...

I have too many ideas, I think they are great and I´m enthusiastic about everything

Yes 100%. I have like four at this point. I am holding myself from diving in though otherwise I know I'm gonna get burnt out

I do have a lot of ideas but I am also aware that just because I brainstorm something, it doesn’t mean it’s something worth developing. Not all ideas work and sometimes you can tell that in the preplanning stage.

Right now I am focusing on completing what I started and after that, I can move onto something newer.

Yup. In fact, at one point I announced 10 projects in the works, but had to severely cut back because the time wasn’t there. Instead now, I’ve reduced the number of upcoming series in half. That seems more doable for me.

I suffer from the same thing lol. I'll be writing one story then I'll get an idea for a new one and will try to write it down only to never get past the planning stages. Sometimes I even drop some stories I was currently writing, it's a huge problem for me.

I struggle with this problem all the time. Usually while I'm working on one story, I'm brainstorming plots for the next three to four stories. And that's not just for MY comic. I've been thinking of pitches for comic book series for Marvel and DC for years.

This is why long form webcomics are so hard. I imagine most creators don't suffer form a lack of ideas. Ideas are easy, follow through is HARD. My own magpie brain is constantly trying to distract me with shiny new ideas. =/

yo that cover looks amazing! like it came out from a Japanese anime studio! great work dude! :+1::grin:

to answer your question... no, i dont have that too many ideas...

well except for...

wouldnt it be cool if we build a laser that was powered by human hair! and the laser cant hurt people because it can only destroy hair! :sunglasses:

what if scientists enhanced chicken DNA to have 8 legs! that way i can have 8 fried drum sticks! woohoo!

what if all the guns shoot chocolate bullets? then everyone would get fat in world wars tsk2 :scream:

I guess I'm lucky then that my ideas tend to be ones that pile onto existing ideas, so I definitely have enough story content for a long-form webcomic XD It's the actual-drawing part of the follow through that's hard for me, rather than the 'building further on existing ideas' part :'D
