I know its pure coincidence more than anything and not to mention this redheaded girl from one of the popular comics Tapastic is currently promoting (Fresh Romance7) has small physical differences that separate her from my own red head OC Susan Graham from my comic Life of an Aspie7, but has anyone here ever ran into a fictional character that instantly reminded you of your own original character even if they only superficially bore a resemblance to them?

Small immediately noticeable differences between this girl and Susan include Susan having mini bangs, a black headband, and no freckles anywhere on her body.

On a bigger scale, this girl seems to be touchy feely whereas readers of my comic know that Susan hates physical touch being one of those people on the spectrum who is strongly sensitive to it.

Oh and the girl from Fresh Romance seems to either be lesbian or bisexual going off of this panel I screencapped whereas Susan is straight, but isn't interested in having a relationship for personal reasons.

not on here but on Deviantart someone pointed out how daddy10 looks like some other character in his orginal concepts. I said yeah tan skins and any color hair is a pretty common idea lol. I think because at the time the hair styles were the same. which was a long ponytail in a braid.... he's since changed because his roll in the story changed. but ya it's happened.

Just mentioning - a lot of people consider "oh your character sorta looks like mine!" Or "Your character reminds me of (fandom character here)" somewhat rude or odd depending on the artist. I get what point youre making though.

Haven't really seen many characters which bore a resemblance to mine but I've gotten quite a few from other people - most of which I do not agree with.

My favorite was a comment from Instagram where the person said "these look so much like my characters that it's giving me low-key anxiety HAJAHAJFA" and when I looked our four characters looked....nothing alike.

I did come across the same thing on DeviantArt of all places.
So I had a character with grey hair, blue eyes and a green streak in his hair, as well as a dark skinned character, black hair with blue streak.

After a year or so, a really popular person had the EXACT same characters, looks and all only set in space.
It was a BL comic, and honestly a pretty good one too. But I felt like I had to keep low, so people didn't think that I had ripped off this person xD
Even tho you could clearly see in my dA gallery that I had created these before the other had xD

But it was surreal to see this, and so odd too. My two characters weren't gay, and the personalities were flipped as well. So weird. But a nice kind of weird.

@Candel_and_Goji have another character called Balor, except theirs is a talking pig. that said, both Balors use they pronouns and have similarities to their personalities - but if Balor is an au of my Balor, then its like, a third au 5 times removed. but i kinda like that

I completely forgot the animated Anastasia movie was a thing and recently noticed some similarities, appearance wise, between Anastasia and my main hero Amy Druvmenski. It also doesn't help that they're both Russian

Yeah... I don't like character comparisons because they always turn out to be a huge stretch. One of mine keeps getting compared to Moana, despite having existed long before. People just pick up on the fact that she's an islander. Because you know, dark skinned girls who live in a tribe by the sea never existed in the real world before Disney did it. She doesn't even have the same kind of hair, eyes, facial structure or outfit. :unamused:

I have!
I've got a crooked cop character named Link Parke and he is known to have a drug habit and take bribes from criminals, but later on in life he lets the wrong people off and it comes back to haunt him, ruining his career.

About 2 months into working on him I played Yakuza 4 and there's a crooked cop called Tanimura who also takes bribes and has bad habits (although for him it's gambling) and I also saw the film Filth (one of my favourite films now) which was about a drug-addicted crooked cop who exploits people all the time and keeps it a very cleverly hidden secret. (Link also keeps his exploits carefully concealed) The detective from Filth is also very confused and frustrated in his love life, similarly to Link.

Neither of them looked anything like him but there were deeper personality things that made them feel very similar to him. I'm not mad either bc they're both great characters.
