Examples of your characters being awkward

Do you have a character who's an awkward disaster? Show me some examples through dialogue or provide some context. Are they modeled after yourself? Friends? You just wanted them to be that way? Gimme!

Also, tell me something good that's going on with your story. If could be new subs, likes. more engagement. Did you make the front page? Did you have a breakthrough and overcome some writer's block?

Here's mine, from one of my rough drafts.

Also, I've finally written out (with A LOT of help) some plot points for some characters that my readers will hopefully enjoy I took a mini break to catch up on some of yall's stories but I'm still ahead enough to keep up with my update schedule

"I get up and head for the door and run out of the house before she can say anything. The sun is fully risen now and Baolarah is lying in a patch of sunlight on the ground. In my efforts to get as far away from Mother and her potential questions as possible, I don’t notice just how far I’ve walked until I walk face first into an invisible wall and I’m on the ground.

After lying on the ground in agony, Baolarah not so much as turning her head at all the noise, and Mother not coming to see if I was okay and yelling at me instead, she tells me to leave the house and not come back until I “get over myself”. I don’t know what she means by that, but the way that she slams her hand on the rocks, I know she doesn’t want me to come back for a good while."

She is an exceptionally awkward character. And due to her gangliness, she's a bit clumsy too. She's like a baby deer learning to walk....who's also really bad at math. And um, breathes fire.

Oh, my main character is the definition of an awkward disaster...based on my social anxiety That, and she's working with people that 1) don't want her around and 2) speak a different language with only one or two of the large group being able to fully understand her and vice versa.

Awkward...do they know I'm here? Should I say something? I should say something.

"Hi, I'm Tara! I'm filling in for..." I trailed off uncomfortably. The all-male K-pop group simultaneously paused whatever they were doing to gawk at me, their eyes boring holes in my soul. Even the four guys that had been talking to each other were now dead silent and gazing intently at me. Okay, I know I wanted their attention, but I didn't want this much attention.

"Sorry," I whispered, sinking back into my seat.

So far I've had a pretty steady increase in subscribers, which is always nice. I've got the whole novel planned out, and now I just need to stop procrastinating and finish writing the next chapter

My MC is the hugest self insert so every awkward interaction he has is definitely something I'd do

I get embarrassed easily from awkward situations, so I guess I can relate with my MC on that...and with her level of sarcasm

I think sarcasm is the best way to cover up anxiety. Unless you're too sarcastic and then hurt someone's feelings. (oops)

Mine's gotta be after my MC, Casper, runs into his love interest, Cain, again and Cain responds to every question Casper asks with "What?" because he's too busy smitten-staring at him to pay attention to what he's saying. Here's a sample (with excess description removed):

“Are you following me now?”

[...]

“I’m sorry,” Cain's voice sounded even smoother out here on the quiet street, “did you say something?”

The guy’d reined in the expression a little now, but that awestruck grin still suffused his whole face. Like Casper was going to buy into this.

“I asked if you’re following me now.”

A blink. Then another. A car rumbled past down the street. “What?”

And that was actually kind of adorable. “You’re outside the Chinese I’m going into. Are you following me or what?”

“Oh.” His fingers carded back through his hair, catching the light like soft velvet, and a chagrined sort of twist came to his lips. “No, I just … this is my Chinese. I—I already ordered. I’m just waiting…”

Cain's not really based off anyone, I just love the idea that he's at turns incredibly suave and incredibly awkward. It's adorable.

As for successes, I've finished writing a bunch of extra scenes I wanted to put in and I've actually passed 75 subs now!! i think im about a month since i started posting so its pretty exciting, im growing slowly but steadily.

Hugh was interrupted by the sound of the rabbit’s bones being turned to powder by her teeth. The meat had not lasted very long. She decided to crush the bones and eat the marrow. She looked up as their conversation stopped. All three of them were looking at her with expressions ranging from bemused to annoyed.

“What?” She had heard nothing they’d said.

They couldn’t think of a response to give her. She had accidentally punctuated Hugh’s point rather well.

The first two chapters of Nachos Con Carne is of a boy with social anxiety trying and failing (and succeeding anyway) to make friends.

One moment in particular starts with this page, where he tries to introduce himself to his class (and meet a nice girl in the process).

Yes my main character Axelle(Blue jacket) is a very oblivious dork. She does not exactly notices it.

She's a bit on the spectrum and has an intense interest in an in-universe pokemon-esq franchise. Infact the pictures on her shirt (that changes every chapter) are supposed to be be low level mons from the series.
Not exactly based on really on irl, since its leans heavily more on the talkative and social side. While I was the and still am the complete opposite, I did had an intense interest in pokemon thou from 8-14.
