Extra Things You Have Done For Your Comic

Your comic is like you little baby, you usually end up wanting to spend every single previous free time you have on it and sometimes it's too the point you will feel unproductive working on something else BUT your comic! (I mean I do feel this way on multiple occasions...)

So for your baby, what have you done beside making the comic itself? This can range from extra art, doodle, side story, side comic, Q&A, video, etc... You could have done it for yourself, for your subscriber, whichever!

Personally every time I sit down at my computer, I gotta work on something that is related to my comic :Rebirth. If I'm done with the update for that week, I will find something else to do... Hence all the doodle:

SO WHAT ABOUT YOU? What have you done? Will you share them to me? Or maybe talk about what you /would like/ to do for your comic. Personally I found a song that I really want to make an animated opening of my series to it... SOMEONE SEND HELP I NEED TO STOP.

I have ideas for some for my own comic but I've never had enough time to get them started. (And most of them contain spoilers galore!)

Other than that, I've made world maps, some side stories... and I've wanted to do Q&As for awhile now.

The most fun I've had with procrastincation/fun side stuff is this meme/game where you randomly assign 8 or so characters with a number and then have someone else give you silly situational prompts for you to draw. ( Ie. character 4 and 7 go clubbing - what happens?) My sister is excellent with prompts and we've come up with some pretty hilarious non-canon stories through this game.

For my 6,75 I have a whole extras series, with world lore, Q&A, mini comics and popularity poll~ Also, once I held a contest on dA and got some really pretty arts ♥ I have a playlist on spotify for my series (though it's more for what happens later, the song choice is too dark for current events cx ), aaaand done some livestreams : D

Yeah I tend to do a lot of extra thing on the side as a sort of stress-relief procrastinating thing. I'm afraid I might get burnt out if I'm constantly working on the same stuffs (aka an episode/chapter) for days!

Also I know how spoilers can be such a pain to try and avoid, the way I do it is just throwing hints out toward how an event could happen and provide no explanation whatsoever. I sort of like keeping my readers wandering in the dark and have them piecing clues together and discuss among each other about what could have happen/will happen. 😂👌

@igneriss OMg yas for extra series. Honestly wanna doodle some extra series for my comic too. Maybe an extra chapter about the past event, or maybe something completely crack or for funsie like what would the character do if Pokemon Go exists in their universe (real question asked my 1 of my readers LMFAO) Honestly though I tend to gravitates toward dark song when I make music PV too so I know your pain :C

Same here! If I had more time I would make more polished art of my characters! (So many spoilers included 😈)

In the future I would like to do things like crossover pics/short comics, one-shot extra comics, and Q&A's. But for right now I just need to focus on getting pages out on time. 😅

I did a cute little Q&A for my subscribers after reaching 400 subs, and I also did a drawing when the comic reached 200 subs:

The Q&A was a fun way for people to learn more about the comic's characters (though I had to side-step a couple spoilers! ~u~).

Still, anytime I do something extra it's a tricky balance between keeping my update schedule and doing these side-projects. But I think it's important to do extra stuff now and then for yourself and your subs!

For my comic, I made a short anime intro which is now its 'thanks for subbing video'. I also made a separate comics for the q&a, but instead of asking me, the readers will ask my characters instead in a press conference style. I also did fabricate items with my OC's on them, like keychains, shirts, figurines, etc.

Um, I don't think my comics are popular enough to warrant "extra things". (Unfortunately)

I have done some extra doodles and posted them to DA, but that's it. I have posted some of them here on my profile.

I do at one point want to make a dumb VN. Though my major issue is that I want to make it a VN/birdeye view hybrid and I haven't found a program which can help me with that, GameMaker doesn't run on my computer.

I've done a lot of extra art for both of my comics - as I don't have the patience to do anything like animations xD

I've done a side comic for one story and a ton of extra art for my current comic, as well as figurines!

then the side comic for my other story which I'm still building a buffer for...which i made all in one sitting instead of working on my comics...

At one point I tried to make a joke dating simulator via Renpy but python was a pain to work with so I didn't get very far.

I also forgot I actually had charms made of one of the MC's of my new story as well! because my friend had an opening in her charm order and she decided to ask if I wanted to make anything. this was a while ago so mine is a lil scuffed up

Man, the passion in here for the stories you create is utterly intoxicating~ Beautiful stuff, it's so exciting seeing the extra work you put forth!

For me, I do lots of side-arcs, twine stories, and illustrations. I'm deeply in love with the illustrative process (my first love) so I make tons of illustrations featuring my main characters!

And I'm working on making little mobile charms using that shrink paper method? SOON!

I used casting resins. So first I shaped it with clay then make a mold for it then cast the resin on the mold. When it hardens I then paint it... Yeah it's a long process. XD

Motsuro Project has basically become my life...like literally all my days are spent this summer when I'm not working is making buffer pages for it for when I go to college in the fall (I have it up to like November 30...LOL). I like doodling my characters in class or like just researching say 1930's Shanghai or the Tang Dynasty or literally anything related to my comic lol.

omg @ everyone who does videos for their comic and extra series and quizzes and UGH these are such cool ideas!!

i stream character sketches and comic pages (without text to avoid spoiling the episode) and work on comical sidecomics that don't really fit with the main story, but serve as a nice break from the plot. when i hit 5k subs and my comic had its first tapastic bday i made a formal "thank you" animation!
i also asked what people wanted to see, so i'm working on tutorials, too! (here's the "thank you" gif and part of a bonus comic)

like a lot of people have said, i need to wait before sharing certain extra things to avoid spoilers lmao but i hope to do q&a and formal speedpaints in ~the future~ 0-":
