When I created the Facebook page for my graphic novel it only made sense to select Book, but since it's not really a book (at least not yet) I'm having second thoughts. Does the category you pick affects your page? What category have you selected? BTW leave a link to your page here!

I think different categories have different features. For example, if you put "business" then people can leave reviews and stuff. My facebook page is listed under "Artist" I think. So, it has different features. I think some of the categories are probably the same tho.

I would keep it as a book - unless there is a comic to select.

It's more about how you use it - ie what you are posting there. The difference is if you did a paid promotion or so, plus I think that if yours is a book, people can add it to their interest as a book. I don't think there is much more difference in terms of search features if people are looking for you. Probably different way to describe it.

I have mine as a writer as I am posting links to my writings no matter where they are.

Well, for Slugworld's Facebook page1 I selected "entertainment website" because I looked at other webcomics and a lot of them were using that one. I also have a few other pages in different categories and I've never noticed any difference.
And it is pretty ridiculous that "comic" isn't an option.

Yeah, but book has some "ISBN" and other publishing-related fields that are weird, so I'm not sure how well it performs given that it's not really a book. I selected it because I thought about people being able to add it as such, but other than that I don't know.

Yes, it's pretty lame. But they probably don't have it because they don't think about Web Comics. Regular print comics would nicely fit the book one.

Still, it seems like something the big publishers would want, and as they're owned by Disney and Warner Bros. respectively it seems like they would get what they want.

Well, you can get ISBN if you wanted. I would not worry about it. I have put Counting Shadows on Goodreads (I did self-publish it on Amazon earlier this year). Facebook a mix of promotion and community building. If you have it as a book, you will most likely just keep it on that topic. I do think that if you have it as a book, people can add it then to the books they liked.
