Faces defeated me, I throw the towel

For 15 years I tried to draw faces, I didnt even try to draw realistic faces, simple faces.
For 15 years i might have drawn hundreds, if not thousands of faces, and not one, not a single one has become something I could say, that looks good. Misaligned eyes, ugly noses, misplaced eyebrows, inexistent hair volume, distorted ears, and the jaw, THE FREAKING FUCKING JAW XD

After 15 years, aka today, I tried to back to the circle example, and failed it so roundly, that it seems I didnt draw a single face in the last 15 years.

I came to following conclusion: If you're not an artist who can draw people in the first year, simply give up, go draw trees instead....

Thousands of them? And all of them turned objectively bad and other people told you so too? You tried a bunch of styles, changed the way you draw literally every feature a few times, tried all the ways, drew at least one face every day for 15 years and they all, all turned out badly? Well, trees it is then. Trees are actually great! People love dem good looking landscape.

Hey, I hear you. It took me FOREVER to learn how to draw faces, and even longer before I thought that I could share them online! Don't be so hard on yourself when it comes to art and drawing in general; sometimes you can be your biggest critic when it comes to something being just right.

You will forever be growing as an artist. Heck, I still stink at drawing backgrounds (that's why I have to use references for everything!) and it's been YEARS. Whatever you choose to draw, whether it be animals or trees, make it your own and make it awesome.

i have to assume this is some kind of troll which makes me feel silly for even bothering to respond but one year is a pretty short amount of time in the grand scheme of things and there's a million and one ways to portray someones likeness even if it's not "good" or fitting into some mainstream aesthetic which has been proven so so many times though all the many art movements over humanities lifetime and abstract still sells not to mention object heads are still as cool as they were ages ago

ive been drawing for over a decade and while i still question the quality of my work from time to time i refuse to just give up outright coz even if i cant draw like this person or that person i can draw like me and have fun doing it and if i'm lucky find folks who like those faces so if thats not reason enough for someone to continue i don't really know what else i can say to them

plus people arent the only subject available to draw so if environment art is something you prefer then pursue that and hopefully you find joy in it

Well yeah, you're probably "a troll" in the sense of "you're here to complain about your failure to draw faces, not looking for constructive advice on what to do in your situation" ... but really, what's wrong with that?
