Family gripes: Too lazy to even enjoy life...?

Most of my family is, and it's really annoying...but when you think about it, it's actually one of the saddest things. You could be having so much fun if you could only be bothered to get off your a$$...

I'll go to McDonalds after church on Sunday and they look at me like I'm 'living it up'...like, nah, I just got a craving for a McChicken; to most Americans that's actually not a very big deal...

Once we were low on groceries and I didn't have the car, so I offered to let my younger sibs order a pizza on my dime. We NEVER order pizza, and I thought they would love it. They would have, if I'd told them that I would order it for them.
But instead, they spent four hours complaining that they didn't know how. Four hours. XD And these are kids aged twelve to seventeen!

It's like, if anything is even slightly outside of their comfort zone or requires a modicum of effort, even if they would like it, they won't do it. I'm always the one who has to force them to have fun: I had to buy the movie tickets and drag everyone out to see Incredibles II even though they all wanted to see it (and ended up loving it~). If I had done nothing, I'm almost certain they wouldn't have gone.

So, that's my family gripe. ^^ Do you know anyone else like this? Are YOU like this? Do you have any completely unrelated family gripes to share??

Something else, My Aunt. Recently it was her birthday, we brought her out to dinner, it was me, my mom and one of my other aunts (her youngest sisters, I'll call the second aunt A2) I had two very important exams the next day but I thought, 'hey, it's her birthday, and I rarely get to see her so I'll go even if it is rather sudden'. I was in the car with my family everything was going fine, and then My Aunt says 'You two were more loved' She was trying to say my Mom and A2 were more loved by my Grandfather and Grandmother who have been dead for two years at this point. I'm not going to go into detail but My Gramps and her always bumped heads (even though he always thought it was for her own good) and my Grandma was a hard-working nurse who was overworked with 6 kids in the 40s-70s so she had to skip out on a few things. Honestly I was taken aback I wanted to say "what the hell is wrong with you" but I just said "Stop" but she completely ignored me. She grilled my mom and A2 for a bit about how they were the favorites, which they weren't. I was completely appalled this grown woman's behavior, I guess this 60 year old woman never grew out of her edgy teen days.

People will be people and they'll always have their shortcomings. They'll always have their petty moments and flaws.

My gripes range for not really serious (basically all of them) to one or two that I feel is more serious.

I live with my younger brother and he can be really lazy haha He is one of those people that never washes his dishes (there's a lady that comes to clean weekly and he just leaves there) and leaves his stuff in the living room. It's kind of a chore, and I myself am guilty of doing it sometimes (I mean, it's life, we all have our lazy days), but I almost never say anything, so I guess I'm part of the problem, of course. I just think it's stupid I'd have to say that he maybe should leave his stuff... inside his room. Like, I feel it should be obvious.

I dunno, I'm tempted to give A1 the benefit of the doubt. ^^; I mean, if she did that all the time, then yeah, grow up and move on.
But if that was her first time lashing out, maybe decades of pent-up rage just reached a boiling point. I mean, you did say her relationship with her father was tense; maybe she really did feel like the least-favorite child in comparison to her sisters, and they honestly had no idea.

I'm just trying to put myself in her shoes, that's all.

Nah, though I do applaud you doing that. So I should give some more context. She tries to do that kind of stuff all the time (she even tried to do that on my little brother's Bday), she did it alot before my grandparents died. Even with my Gramps trying to sit her down and talk she would be too petty to do so, even when we were all notified it was going to be a matter of a week or two he wasn't going to be around much longer, he was 95 and he was still trying and the only thing A1 got from him was his stubbornness. She always lacked self-awareness and everything else was always everyone else's fault, while she gave no one the time to sit and talk, she still expected them to apologize. Honestly it always became a matter are you with her or against her.

Were they just being whiny or could you have walked them through it? Also, after an hour of arguing, I don't know why you wouldn't have just done it yourself. XD ((they can't be regularly getting you to do it for them if this is something that never happens, right??)) Full disclosure, I have anxiety and things like calling for pizza when I was a teen was genuinely hard for me, so I might be overly sympathetic. XD

On a personal note, frustrated with a relative who refuses to take care of themselves, and is a habitual liar. Its sad but I just kind of don't talk to her anymore. ((we weren't close anyway, as until recently she lived very far away))

I'll start off by saying, I love my parents, they are for the most part good people... but my gosh, they are boring people. I believe their main hobby is watching Seinfeld and they have been doing so since it first aired. Just recently my mom said she was sick of watching it... and then I found her not long after watching it again. I find it difficult to relate to them sometimes because we have so little in common.

Honestly, I probably would have been like that too at that age. lol But my parents live in the middle of the woods and there's only one place that would deliver to us (and I'm surprised they even would because it's a decent drive away) so we very, very rarely would order delivery or take out. I think I learned how when I was in college and had to learn how to do normal human things on my own since my parents never taught me much...

2. You can order pizza online these days, y'know? No human interaction required until you pay the delivery-person, and I would be doing that. At least, I would have been...
3. If it was just social anxiety, I wouldn't be denigrating them on the internet; they have plenty of friends (way more than I ever did). Maybe it's hard to believe, but they really are that lazy!

Not to be unkind, but I think that makes you equally at fault! You're making fun of your younger siblings for being uncomfortable to do something you didn't do because you were uncomfortable. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Okay, I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you are making WAY too many assumptions here. It's insulting, to be honest.
I did that pizza thing to TEST them, to see if they would actually make an effort for something that seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It is NOT because I was too lazy or too uncomfortable to do it myself. I live on my own. I do almost everything for myself. If I can figure out how to file my taxes, I could figure out how to order a pizza IF I wanted to.

I don't know how you decided that I was "uncomfortable" when I never said that or anything like that. And I wasn't really "making fun" of anyone; I gave an honest criticism of their behavior. "Lazy" is not just a mean name, it is a real word with a real definition, and I'm pretty sure it applies in this case.

Please stop trying to make me out to be a bullying older sister, because I'm not.

In my experience my family were absolutely vile to me, and then when I moved out and proved I didn't need them they suddenly wanna see me all the time and shower me with gifts... :^/ I didn't even get an apology either for the times they threatened me / hurt me / neglected me... They just popped up after two months like "we bought you lucky charms and we've invited you to a party xoxo" as if everything was fine and dandy. All because they're too proud to say sorry.
Not that I'm complaining - I like gifts.

Guess my gripe with my family is their inflated pride.

I've got social anxiety, I'm hella awkward -- I still go outside and do things. Because I would rather get better at being social. Now, Junior year has started -- I've gone to several parties and had fun. I'm slowly beginning to get better.

Like, I dunno -- there comes a point where you just gotta start doing. All I see is this person trying to get them to see that, and if they don't wanna -- that's on them.

In any case, laziness or not, this person knows their family more than us, so we can't make assumptions, even if there is another side to the story.

my stupid cousin. so my oldest aunt on my mom's side seem to have a lot against my mom for some reason or another. since i am my mom's daughter, they treat me just as much as shit, this includes my cousin, she thinks she is so high and mighty since she owns a book store. she told me TO MY FACE that she avoids local authors, she'll never sell my book, she says this while she is happily making a a big display for... A LOCAL AUTHOR!!

then she finds out that my comic is being made, now shes trying to convince her niece to write a kids book so she can rub it in my face. heres the thing, her niece is a new mother, she has no time for shit like that! oh yeah, she also compares me to her niece, shes skinny and "beautiful" while im fat and ugly (to her atleast) and that whole side of the family, from aunt, down. makes fun of my mom cause i am not out there having a fucking kid to please them, my brother gave my mom grandkids so why do I need to have the kid for it to count?, he hates their guts too.

I'm sorry for misunderstanding. To be clear, I wasn't trying to say you were or weren't an adult, or were or weren't able to do anything. I read your response, which seemed to claim you were bothered by your siblings being unable to do something you didn't want to do either.

I really didn't realize my tone was coming across harsh or judgey or anything. I mostly thought it was odd.

Lolol I have plenty of gripes I could post about family but I'll refrain (we'd be here all day and I've just learned to live with them or live around them).
