Yo anyone in here reading some good Zombie comics?

Let's have a fan talk.
I’m reading this one by @getawayfromme118

What I love about this one is that everything is by the book and super classic, but it proves that the way the same old story is told makes a huge difference.

Just like the debate about Making a Frankenstein story”
Not everyone can tell the same story in an existing way.

But this one is doing it perfectly!
What are you reading?

(And please, this is not a link drop thread. This is a Zombie fan talk, this link was an example of a way to tell a classic story)

Anyway. What do you think about the Disney Zombies???

This is not a classic way of telling a Zombie story. But something about makes me like it. Maybe it is all the lost opportunities they keep making?
It could have been something better if it wasn't under Disney.

What??? No Zombie fans in here???

Come on!

I love zombies, but the last comics I read with them was Walking Dead. I mostly just play zombie games and watch zombie movies. I'm usually pretty hesitant against watching Disney live action stuff.

Thinking about it. Is there a game where you play as the zombie??? Not sure

I enjoy zombies, but I don't really read anything zombie related. I would if I stumbled upon something that hit my fancy. I've done more movies, including the Disney Zombies movie... don't judge me, I like musicals. XD

I do like Zombies myself! I think there's a lot of room to play with them, though I more prefer ones beyond the simple 'shamble forwards' variety. I read Zombie Wife1 here on Tapas, but outside of that don't really consume any proper zombie related material...
But I do write it! I'm running a comic that features a zombie as one of the main characters! It's about her and her boyfriend on a road trip across a 1970's America.
I personally like playing with the ramifications of being a dead body. Like, she's got to be kept cold or she'll decay, she has no memory, can't feel pain, etc etc. So, if you're into zombie content, here's one around here.

If your looking for something ongoing there's this one:

it's super atmospheric and well paced, and the protagonist is one of my favorites.

If you want to binge something completed, this one is very good:

It's less about the bomb its themselves and more about isolation and learning how to survive in an abandoned world.

Both of these focus on facets of the apocalypse that I think a lot of stories (movies especially) just brush over. Things like living on your own, the old world turning into just a survival environment, technology, and how this kind of thing would realistically be dealt with. They also both do what zombie stories are meant to do, and that's examine how people behave under pressure and the nature of who we are. They're also both fairly optimistic, which is a nice change of pace.

About ZOMBIES (the Disney film) I think there is a lot of great potential for an interesting story there that just gets tossed aside in favor of making a typical Disney film. Things like zombies having their own language, the way we treat exchange students, race, class, and ethics.

There are things I like about the film too, the main couple has some legitimate chemistry, (rare in a movie like this) the coach kills every scene he's in, and I love the art direction. (the costumes just kill me) also I like that the typical "mean girl" character is a boy for a change. however, I think it really should have addressed more of the aforementioned ideas, and I really get uncomfortable in the scene where the white human protagonist tells the only zombie played by a person of color that they're going to do the protest more performatively because what they zombies had in mind wasn't "her style" It kinda reeks of a white savior mindset and the idea that minorities shouldn't make a big fuss when they are being opressed.

Thank you so much for the shout! Glad you’re enjoying it

Really appreciate your support ^^

Well... My comic is about a sort of zombie I created years ago. The funny thing is the main character has a nickname. "Zed"... DUH! :sweat_01: like that Disney thing. Cause the "Z" letter stand for zombie too, obviously... but I didn't know that Disney movie when I created it. I suppose it's a good sign.

ahah I love Mickey Mouse shorts so I know exactly where this is from (pretty sure it's the first 20-30 sec of Carried Away before the kabloom)
