So let me start this topic by saying that i've already listened to a handful of anime soundtracks. And i'd like to discover more of them.

So if you have any anime soundtracks you like, share them! That way we can compare what kind of tracks we like! (Also helps me quickly find new anime OST's instead of fooling around on the internet.) Also I won't judge your taste!

Weird question? Probably.

A few anime ost's that I sometimes listen to:

Kekkai (Blue Exorcist)
L'abaresque Sindria (Magi: Kingdom of Magic)
Escanor's theme (Seven Deadly Sins)

Cowboy Bebop of course. Kara no Kyoukai OST from Kajiura is awesome, also look for Kalafina for more songs. Juuni Kokuki (12 kingdoms) is fantastic, mostly folk. Berserk (not only anime, but games OSTs too!) and Paprika OST from Hirasawa. Also not anime, but I totally recommend listening to Persona 3,4,5 games OSTs

Thanks, i'll check them out whenever I have some spare time left!

Not a specific soundtrack either but anything from Yuki Kajiura. Off the top of my head, I know she did something from .hack and the one for Noir.

I've said it numerous times here on the forums but my absolute favorite OSTs and by that, I mean the entire soundtrack discography.. (like, I prefer to listen to them as albums rather than just individual songs, so I'll be talking about 'em as such) ..are the ones from Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, and Naruto. I'd actually add The Promised Neverland and Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis (never seen the anime though, I heard a remix and wanted to check it out lol) in there too, actually! My close seconds are Tokyo Ghoul, Hunter X Hunter, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Cells At Work.

Aside from those, I'd love to hear the official releases for the OSTs from Demon Slayer and Vinland Saga. Those would probably go in my top favorite as well~

And Madoka Magica, and Noir's sister series, Madlax and El Cazador, and MaiHIME and all of its spawn, which are kind of trashy anime but have incredible soundtracks~. There are probably more I've heard of that I can't remember; the lady works hard! ^^

Anyway, apart from Kajiura, I have to say I really like Yoshiaki Fujisawa. I've already watched two anime that feature his work, and not only is it beautiful, it's very recognizable. There's just something in the way he uses orchestra to create that 'magical' sound...

I listen to more game OSTs than I do anime OSTs (and both make up the majority of my audio consumption, which makes it really hard to answer the question "what's your favorite music genre/artist"??) but I also think that soundtracks from kids' anime are largely underappreciated. It's like people just don't expect them to be worth listening to, simply because the target audience is too young to pay attention to things like that.

But I found this gorgeous piece from Ojamajo Doremi the other day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pVKUi7bTug1
It's so beautiful and bittersweet (my favorite part starts around 1:16)...I think it might have been from one of the movies; because I don't remember hearing it, and I can't imagine what kind of character/event they used it for...maybe I should look into watching the series again~.

Now imagine 5 SEASONS worth of music of that quality, and no one really giving a damn (despite how famous OD is). The same goes for Pretty Cure; its composers are really creative and deserve more love. Sometimes their work is a season's only redeeming quality... ^^;

Obviously the best OST is the What's New Scooby-Doo theme

Okay bad joke aside. I enjoy Earth Maiden Arjuna ost

Seconding the Cowboy Bebop OST

Also pretty fond of Durarara, Nichijou, Sword Art Online, Mekakucity Actors (the anime and the Kagerou Project related albums), The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star.

I'll likely refer back to this thread for refs myself

I adore the ‘Attack on Titan’ OSTs. They are so amazing to listen to, especially if you need shit to get done.
‘My hero academia’ is a great choice too and I also like the old Sailor Moon OSTs (first two seasons of the japanese OST, not the American one with the pop songs)

Yuki Kajiura is just...ugh fantastic. I LOVE her music. Madoka OST is awesome.

I also love Yoko Kanno and her music of Escaflowne.

My favorite OSTs though are Kill La Kill OST, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and Attack on Titan.

I enjoy a lot of different anime but music wise for who has utilized it best to control the mood versus the action you're seeing without it being a disappointing trope: Gungrave fits really well. Another would be Gad Guard, but it is very niche for music. Oddly I didn't super enjoy the music in Princess Tutu, even though I love the main scores they used (Black Swan). One anime that I recall being oddly silent and music is used only to create a mood for the viewer would be a more recent show: Tsuritama (if you enjoyed it, look up the soundtrack for Towa no Quon). I think it's because I'm on the older spectrum of anime watching, so to me a show like Blue Exorcist uses a lot of music tropes that were found in other, older, earlier, shounen shows - like Yu Yu Hakusho; I love Blue Exorcist, but it's music was not nearly as unique as Soul Eater (season 1 especially). A final mention would be Jing: King of Bandits, a rather shortlived anime with a lot of reusing of music, but it was very well done.

Yes, i'm glad I made this topic!
So many new anime OST's that I have yet to listen to but it's totally worth it!

I have quite a few that are favorites,

-Persona 4 (I'm counting this as an ANIME OST even though technically most the music is from the game, lol)
-Banana Fish (Especially the opening and closing songs, omg, but like, literally every song at any time is so good?)
-Psycho Pass (Once again, open and ending songs SLAP)
-Owari No Seraph (....OP and END SLAP)
-Project K (Hnnnnng, why does everything sound so good though)
-Gangsta (...I'm beginning to see a trend of me liking anime OST's that revolve around gangs?)
-Lovely Complex (It's so fun and upbeat)
-This Ugly Yet Beautiful World (it's so pretty my guy)
-Prince of Stride (OP SLAPS)

....That is all I can think of at the moment.

Nice topic ! I'll try some of y'all recommendation !

-Megalo Box and Kekkai Sensen are definitely looping at my place.
-When I'm in a specific mood I have Paprika on a loop too.
-Also recently I got into Carole & Tuesday, the full soundtrack isn't out yet but just hearing in the anime I know it's going to be nice! (created by Shinichiro Watanabe, samurai champloo, cowboy bebop, the bladerunner short, you know it's good...)
