Even so I don't read lots of manga, I usually see lots of anime. But my favourite comic of all time is definitely Maus. But I'm into Marvel and DC too, specially 80's stuff.

Wow, yeah, Alita was great. Have you read Ashen Victor? Same author, Yukito Kishiro. This time he draws with a lot of influence from Frank Miller's Sin City. It's beautiful. The story happens in the same universe that Alita, its a motor-ball story.

I grew up with Dragon Ball, and I wouldn't be here doing what I'm doing if it wasn't for Akira Toriyama. But my favourite manga is Urusei Yatsura, of Rumiko Takahashi, who I think must be the Kami manifesting itself through the pannels.

If I have to point what I think is the perfect comic, I would say Asterix. It is because I see it flawless, with everyone of its components in the right measure.

Yeah I have. I liked it a lot, although the story was short - but nothing compares to the beautiful art and the characters of the main story line. Kishiro definitely shows how much of an artist he is, being able to change his drawing style like this.

Actually I don't actually read manga and graphics novel cause I prefer watching anime but my first license manga that I've read is One Piece but only it's chapter 1 if you don't believe me checkout my anime profile regarding manga and anime

Favorite Manga: Probably tied with DN Angel (though she discontinued the series....whyyyyy??? TAT) and Chrono Crusade (the ending had nothing but feels)

Favorite Graphic Novel: Anything made by Jhonen Vasquez. I love his twisted humor and his artstyle :'3

And JHONEN VASQUEZ. I have a Johnny the Homicidal Maniac shirt that I've owned for like ten years now and I get a lot of compliments on it from random people on the street haha Love his gothic style and black humor as well!

My favorite graphic novel is between The Killing Joke by Allen Moore (it's a Batman vs the Joker story) and the Scott Pilgrim series. Pretty different sides of the spectrum, but both good!

Favorite manga is World Trigger. I'm addicted to the story. The anime isn't that great though.

I fell in love with Gaara in particular. Naruto was there for me during very dark times and the characters taught me not only that a lot of my painful emotions were normal and justifiable but also that positive emotions and a hopeful outlook on life were also possible.

This. All of this. I will admit, I haven't read in a while, but there was a time a couple years ago when I followed Naruto religiously (and yes - Gaara is the best!).

Hunter x Hunter was my faves back when I read that.

Hunter was the other one I was going to mention. Absolutely love this manga! I think it's still on haitus, though...

@vincentprendick I never read FMA as the manga, but it is officially my favorite anime. Which...oh no...thanks for bringing it up. I'm not going to have to go and re-binge-watch the whole thing again. lol

The thing that actually got me first interested in manga was reading the Buddha series by Osamu Tezuka. He's got so many books out, it's actually ridiculous! I think the most famous one is "Astro Boy," but if you're looking for something a little more grown up, definitely the "Buddha" series, the "Phoenix" series, "Ode to Kirihito," "Black Jack"... there are too many to list!

I've read a lot of manga and the ones that stuck out to me were like some lesser known titles. I've found I like the shorter comics and get board of the longer ones. Funny thing is are these are Shojo comics and I typically hate shojo comics. But for these I just connected with the characters and could really relate to them.
So the Comics are:
Mars: About an Artist and Motorcyclist.
Dragon Voice: Boy Bands!! Love the characters and CUTE GUYS! XD
Otomen: Guys that like girly things. More cute guys. lol

I haven't purchased any manga/graphic novels in a while, so I have a modest collection of shonen and shojo manga, most of which I have not purchased in their entirety. (15 volumes of Naruto, 9 volumes of FullMetal Alchemist, 7 volumes of Hellsing, so on and so forth )
Even though I've sort of re-read these series to death, I remember enjoying the psychological darkness of Death Note, the elegant art style of Black Butler, the sappy romances of Kare Kano, the deep, expansive plot of F.M.A... There were times where I was obsessed with a certain series for a few months, so I wouldn't enjoy reading them as much now, but the manga I received was really interesting and opened up my mind to a variety of drawing techniques and such. But I do like looking through the Shonen Jump books I got at yard sales once in a while...
I've been looking at American graphic novels more recently; my school library received a bunch of new graphic novels over the past couple of years, so I've been gradually picking out the comics that catch my eye. For something dark and insightful, I'd recommend the two-volume series of Maus; it blew my mind at the time of reading, having only seen wide-eyed manga characters. I've also read the 80's graphic novel Watchmen, which---while a laborious task to read through--- was very interesting and complex despite its generic-comic-book-style art. (is that what'd you call it? I dunno, but it was still awesome )

That's a pretty good collection. I've got the whole series of FMA, Trigun and Death Note, and I'm currently working on getting the whole series of Bakuman. I love Manga.
