Hey tapas folks! So I'm currently working on a comic and I've almost finished the first chapter except I'm hung up on the look. Originally it looked a little flat so to remedy this problem I tried out a couple of different looks.

I was curious to know what others thought looked the best.
Here's the original look I had for the whole comic, just for comparison.

Thanks in advance!

2 and 4, but switch them out depending on the intensity of the scene? 2 could be made to look much more dramatic when used in a single frame/dramatic page? resolute opinion?

I like 3 or 4 the best, but honestly they all look pretty similar. This is not something that will make or break the comic as most people wouldn't notice the difference. I suggest you just go with what feels best to you, keeping in mind that you'll have to use this style over the course of the entire series. You need to be comfortable and happy with it

i think taking the drop shadows in 2 and using a complementary shade despite the base color would be very effective (a blue shade on a blue flat is kinda boring, but a green or purple shade? WOO MAMA) also using a thicker line on shaded areas is a very effective stylistic technique as it implies the illusion of depth!

3 is the best compromise to me at first glance comparing the 5 styles, it's more readable, balanced and complete form of the style, also, not too contrasted as 2 and 5 almost hurt the eyes from numeric color strength / strong blacks vibration / vibrance.
