I have to vote continuity, but I do try to build in some grace. For example:
I try to make sure not to over-design my characters' looks/outfits, so if someone gets dirty or cut up in a scene, I'll do my best to maintain continuity, knowing that those additions (cuts, stains, etc) aren't necessarily something I'll have to deal with for the long term.
I have one character whose outfit is high-effort and detailed.... BUT part of the POINT of his outfit is that the details change regularly (because magic) so I don't have to worry too hard about continuity.
And one of my MAIN characters will eventually be mostly-covered in tattoos... except for the parts of him that are usually not covered by clothing (aka head/hands etc.) So I'll only have to regret my decisions about intense detail/continuity when I make the 'I'm-doing-this-to-myself' decision to draw a scene with his shirt off.
