I do way better on Tapas than I do on WEBTOONS. However I get one sub every time I update. And it's been so damn consistent as well. I uploaded on both at the same time I started too. So that's been like that for months. So I'm convinced I'll reach the 1000 sub goal when I publish 1000 eps. Lol
Although now I say it out loud I've probably jinxed it lol
Oh wow, this got a lot of responses hahaha.
But yeah, I'm just thinking my comic doesn't fit into what Webtoon readers are looking for, so it's just not getting as many for that reason. I'm still going to try to keep uploading and see if it gets any more as it goes along, but its just so FRUSTRATING to not be able to engage with what few readers I have there the way I can here on Tapas!
I wish their platform was a bit more creator friendly, really.

I'm posting here and on webtoon and don't even have 20 followers yet. On Tapas it's even only one person...
I'm getting desperate as I habe already been posting 5 long episodes and it seems like no one is even interested... Am I doing it wrong? Is my story or art that bad?
Would anyone mind giving me some advice?

I can only talk about what worked for me, but i wasn't getting numbers or interactions in webtoons, until i started to make romance comics. I could be wrong, but i think Romance is the top genre in webtoons. (At least i did better than with my older comics, one an action comic and the other comedy).
Well for tapas you only have one episode. Generally people may not subscribe cus you might drop it. and it miraculous that you even gained any subs, which is an accomplishment
Let me be honest with you, webcomic growth is slow...very very slow.
You just started.
VERY RARLY any comic gets double digit subs in the 1st month. And usually its because they already have a following, they advertise alot already before hand or they won the lottary.
This is comming from some one who had a comic for a that only gained 12 subs (it wasn't very good) and now has spent a year working on a comic that has 65 subs here, 16 on webtoons(idk how), and 6 on comic fury. And have been updating every week for a year now.
I don't work in the most popular genre nor have much a social media presence. So really it was up hill battele.
Really the best I can say is just lower your expectations. Treat it like youtube, majority of youtubers rarely break out even 100 subs and webcomic audience is alot smaller
Webtoon doesn’t have a forum which can hinder growth for new comics.
Like others have said building a following on other social media’s as well as continuing to do so on Tapas can have a domino effect to webtoon and building a following there.
And for the subscriber thing being a slow burn, yeah webcomics and building an audience can be. Took about a month for my comic to hit 10 subs here and still on the road to building a following on Webtoon, so understand everything you are saying. Just enjoy the journey and eventual your audience will find you, big or small.

I did that for awhile and now I have around 200 subs ^w^ But I had to quit to fix some weird censorship issues with webtoon which suxed X__x
While webtoon seems to have it easier in terms of traffics, i can’t imagine if webtoon have a forum. I mean, i read plenty of terrible stuffs in comment section from bored/hateful/entitled readers. On the other hand, it’ll be nice if some nice readers come to the forum, tho.
Get cross promotion with another creators, also get canvas collaborations with another creators. Social media is not very effective if you dont have big followers.
I haven't tried crosspromotion, how does the sub grow when crosspromoting? Is it okay to ask? like how many subs can you get ,thank you~~
You should look into the time you upload your webtoons and how popular your genre is. Usually I upload my comic at midnight where there isn't that much people uploading their stuff. I also recommend uploading during canvas week whenever webtoons have it. The last thing you want is to upload your webcomic when there is heavy upload activities because that's when your comic gets buried by newer posts. Also try listing your webcomic in two genres instead of one, for example, action/horror. That way you get more eyes on your webcomic.
I got some followers when I entered their competition. Ever since it's been quiet-ish. I have it on Tapas too and I found no difference really...
@Freemints30 thank you so much for sharing with me! This is really helpful as I constantly feel down when I Upload and no one reacts. You're right - I should lower my expectations and be patient as I go on with it.
I just Always Wonder if I really am doing anything okaish as I see so many with many more reaction. But as you said I guess it's because of excessive advertisement and they already having a following. Well I'll try honing my skills as I go on and will keep your reality check in mind, thank you!
