For argument’s sake let’s set aside the plot/story/storytelling because storytelling is no.1 in my list. When you read/look at a comic vs when you do your own art. Which one is a must-perfect for you, or the one that catches your attention most; the lineart/inking or the color? I’m kinda a sketch/li…

Only 20 MB?? I thought 50 or something. Each file has to be less than 2 MB, but the number of files aren’t limited, are they?

How much is the mb limit on webtoon and tapas btw? For premium i suppose they increase the limit since they also allow gif and sound as well.

That sounds great!! Maybe someday i’ll follow your footsteps and can get into those amazing communities. Now that i let it all seep in, i guess i’ve already used to my own shitty-ness/weakness that i don’t register it as a problem lmao. And i desperately wanted to get better on my own, which is ma…

@darthmongoose @rajillustration @Hexigate I’m kind of embarrassed of how poorly worded my initial post is, i’m really sorry if i came off as arrogant since english isn’t my native language [:cry_01:] That’s a good advice, to ask others critique your works. I think i’ll do it but maybe slowly sinc…

Yeah, critiques are important. The question though, is it impossible to be able to see our own work objectively? How to distance ourselves with our works, is basically my question xD

That’s it. It’s like, how do i even begin to ‘see’ my own arts. Like you can see the flaw of the movies you watch even if they are your favorite and so good and in no way comparable to hand held middle school movie for assignment. But when you yourself make a movie, you can’t really apply the ‘stand…

Well, it is not that i find other works lacking compared to mine, in fact it is quite the opposite. I don’t know how to explain this, but with my ‘radar’ i can see there’s something not quite perfect in other people’s arts and maybe how to fix it but when i see my own arts i can’t use my own radar s…

I have constant problem of looking at my art objectively as i would other people’s art. Like, unconsciously i don’t apply my standards when i see other people’s art, to when i see my own arts. Maybe you’ll say leave it alone and then come back with fresh eyes. With that i can see some problems yes, …

Cause i have the misfortune of choosing the fantasy genre, i have to sketch the entire sceneries/landscapes and buildings myself because it’s not based on western fantasy or anything based on real earth really. I naively spending my time looking at rocky mountains and the nature and wilderness pictu…

Since my comic is in fantasy genre, and it’ll have a lil bit of action scenes, i decided to go with the second one. Thank you guys for the inputs, i really appreciate it /o/

It’s the opposite for me  somehow i started with realistic drawing as a kid, and then lose interest and converted to semi-realistic and now i just want simple style for simple life [:sweat_02:]

How to combine both....looks like i need more experiment XD thanks for the suggestion /o/

Yeah, the cel shaded one is more sloppy, i guess, since i very rarely color with cel shading one too. I don’t even know what i want vs what works. I think i need to sleep on this first lmao. Thanks a lot though <3

Ahaha that’s right i should post the final one instead lmao. Yeah, also l have never made comics before so i don’t know in the long run which one will prevail(both in terms of motivation and effectiveness) Yeeeesss watercolor rules /o/

I will agree with you because i’m just a watercolor person xD

Well this is just rough doodles, i usually sketch with very thin lines because i am used to manual watercolor  but i can make it tidier and thicker. But you have good point, i mean every comic for me would be better in watercolor because i’m very biased. But the cel shading is faster, i think. Objec…

Does the watercolor one strain your eyes more though? I mean for illustration it’s ok, but for comic idk if it’s a bit too contrast-ty you know?

Idk i’ve never timed myself so idk which the faster one, but i think the cell shading is easier because drop tool etc. But i’m happier drawing the first one. Maybe i need to let the watercolor go and go with the second for comic haha. Thanks a lot <3

I’m also a lil bit biased here. But maybe some people will have a hard time with watercolor one because of the contrast or smth. Thanks a lot <3

Quick doodle for color test. Which do you prefer for comic? The cel shading or the watercolor one. Thanks [image]

What about the hair itself? Isn’t it more difficult ? :joy:

I don’t know absolutely, but in here it does /o/

That’s the second thing i find the most difficult too.! I think i have difficulties with parts that convey emotions. First eyes, then mouth and then eyebrows lmao. I can only draw a sneer xD.

I sincerely prefer more simple and not too detailed style when reading comic idk why. The ears —— i feel the pain. it’s years before i realize that ears aren’t supposed to look the same from all angles xD

Don’t get me wrong, i find that stylized and anime/looser style superior than realism because you need to be able to convey with simple strokes! Which i can’t apparently [:sweat_02:] But i can see why looking up and down may be difficult. I also need to study more atleast with face down you don’t…

Vent them out here. All the frustrations. For me it’s the eyes. Other face anatomy or even body anatomy aren’t that frustrating to me. Maybe because it’s the eyes that convey all of the emotions. But the angle!! I want to draw as dynamic as possible, but it’s always the eyes that failed me. I can dr…

How much short is short? Do you think combining short prologue into the first chapter would be good? Like maybe 10 panels and then right into the story so it doesn’t feel laggy?

XD right either way is not fun, but maybe can be fun with the right hand(author) which i seem to not posses.

So without prologue, as the story goes characters throwing bits information here and there something that should be common knowledge is forgivable then?
