Getting Noticed? Webtoons vs Tapas

Hello! So I've been posting on webtoons for a while with my comic:

AHLAM- My Dream, My Journey

So I remember the first time I posted my series on Tapas I got very little views and subs, whereas on webtoons I got more. After around a month I stopped posting on Tapas due to the very little amount of views/subs. Now I have 11 episodes on Webtoons but I remembered Tapas and thought maybe I should try to post here again. Do you guys think I should try? Tapas has changed since the last time I've posted and it seems much nicer, so I'm a little indecisive if I should give it a try or not.

As long as you didn't delete your series entirely on Tapas chances are your audience here are still going to want to read your work. I mean as far as getting noticed goes, that's more of a how much are you willing to put into working on being noticed and how high of an expectation you have to see results. "This whole webcomic thing is a bit of a patience game."

I think if you have an audience on webtoons you may as well stay there. tapas has actually gotten worse about promoting smaller creators in my opinion. It's at the point that unless people are actively looking for your comic they won't find it.
i'm actually planning on leaving tapas soon because the only way for your comics to get viewed is for you to have a fanbase somewhere else big enough to get you into the trending or popular page here other than that I think your series will probably get noticed by a few people here but not enough for it to be worth the effort.

The way I see it, you've got nothing to lose. The audience is larger on Webtoons, but on Tapas they engage more. There's nothing to lose by posting on both sites. Personally if there is even 1 person that read me here, I would keep posting for them.

Getting noticed on Tapas is too hard, many authors I know wants to leave Tapas even worse than they want to leave webtoon. I understand them because for small artists or new comics these days, the only time you can rely on to get subs is the 5 minutes right after you update where you can be seen in fresh then 10 minutes later, so many other people updated it's already topping your comic. That's it. other times people won't even find your comic. Also in the sort by alphabetic order, they don't even have the letters to pick. It just starts right away so if you want to look for title started by R you'll have to go to page 300 or something. That tapas system is bad. I don't like Webtoon much but to get noticed it's better than tapas by 1000 miles.

I'm having the opposite of your problem?
I've been gaining views pretty steadily on webtoons but it's an extremely slow process whereas on tapas I think I got really lucky and was featured on daily snack. I'm not really sure how staff picks and chooses what to post on front page or daily snacks. I was really confused because I only had about 3 episodes with like 100 views and I had no idea how they even found my comic out of everything else on the website.
I have heard many times before that creators favor webtoons over tapas because of more attention they receive. It may be true because when signing up for webtoons you can link with 4 different accounts so it's more accessible. But I feel like webtoons favors a very specific style. Tapas from what I've seen favors constant posts. People on tapas who post a page or two every day seem to do a lot better and get more promotion than people who post in bulk once a week. I noticed this because another creator and I have the same genre and humor and style but she posted 3 episodes at once and made it to "New and Upcoming" category on front page.
I would say keep trying for both websites! Small creators like us really need every bit of attention we can get.

It depends on what you want and how driven you are to get noticed.

• Do you want more comments/subs/views?
• Do you want a loyal fanbase that's interactive but not necessarily big?
• Do you want a little bit of both but is not sure where to post to get that?

There are pros and cons to both websites, and it can be a bit of work in building your audience. There are also a few other topics just like this with a few more insightful answers.

With the recent-ish change to their pledge system and with the still ongoing mystery regarding their algorithms plus the possibility that WEBTOONS might intentionally be working against small time creators, my question is why even bother hosting your comic over there? Overall, a lot of people do favor for posting on both to try and get an audience. That way, you are able to see which site works for you. It also helps to make sure other people know about you and your work.

It helps to advertise your work in forums or on your social media, where you already know a lot of your watchers have been following you. It also helps to be interactive with other readers and creators outside of your work so that you can build relationships and connections.

That's one of the big parts of getting out there: helping others help you and vice versa.
