@WintreKitty @balalaikayon @Savannah

I'm on it! I should have all three of your guy's things out before noon tomorrow! I'll also be actively taking requests for at least the next week or so, in case anyone's like "This seems cool. But not now, I'm busy." I like doing this kind of thing though, to be honest, so really this'll probably last until the day (horror upon horrors) I become inactive.

YES. Alright well, I'm doing all of your characters/random pictures/whatever right now. In fact, it's livestreaming right here4, right now!

Click, click. You know you wanna.

Here's a good tutorial to check out with regards to color: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-17-A-turtle-walkthrough-3454683291 (Cyril Rolando is a really talented colorist & digital painter, and in my opinion an excellent study)

If you're having a lot of difficulty grasping color, though, it may be a symptom of another difficulty you have. If, for example, you don't have a solid grasp on shading - your colors are always going to look flat, lifeless, grade-schooler 'color in the lines' kind of stuff. In which case, rather than practicing color, practicing shading may be better in terms of your advancement.
If you happen to be an artist who does most/all of your shading using opaque black & white over solid color? Then it's probably worth looking into studying, as you need to have a good grasp on light & shading before you can solidly move on to color manipulation. For shading practice, I'd suggest you practice painting still life/realism pictures (like the one TristanJensen provided for study), in some very basic values (black, white, light gray, dark gray).
I don't know your art or your exact situation, so I figured I'd just put that tidbit out there.
Best of luck to you & your studies! I hope I helped. blush

Thanks for all this info! I just have a bad issue with always making black and white draws. Which is fine by itself, but I know that I need to break out of it. And thus, I'm challenging myself a little. I just need to work on getting comfortable with colors, and learning how to bust out the full color portraits with speed. That link seems really helpful, though. Thank you!

Tada!

I actually went loads more in depth than I probably should have, but I had a lot of fun with her! She went through so many color changes omg. Also, I realize now as I post it that I forgot about the pretty danglies in front of her nose. D:

That look so awesome! smile Very nice colour scheme.

Don't worry about the little dangling things, she looks epic without them too blush

Alright, this is it for tonight! I'm closing the stream for today, but plan to start around the same time tomorrow! See you folks then!

The stream has begun once more! My first task is finishing the line work for the bootiful Alfred, but I plan to speed through at least two other characters today.

Come watch me here4!

Tada!

I will freely admit to you right now, I gave up a little on the eyes. Basically just slapped on a highlight and called the piece finished. However, I really, really like how I made that hair omg. First time I tried using this method to create hair, and I'm liking it a lot. I lost the eyebrows in the bangs, but let me just assure you, I was inspired by the last pic you gave me. Inspired.

Alright folks! Closing time, stream closed! Until tomorrow, hopefully. I've finished about half the coloring of the Cheshire Rabbit, and will probably finish sometime before the next stream, but we'll just have to see.

Damn, he looks good! I really like your stylisation. Thank you very much!
I want to share with my friends, can I post it on Tumblr with copyrights and stuff?

You can do whatever you want with him! He wasn't my character in the first place, and this is all just a bunch of practice. Have at him!

The stream is now live once more! I've also stashed the link on the top post rather than repeatedly spamming it all over my page! I'm almost done with the Cheshire Rabbit, I just need to to finish the eyes and the face fur.

Tada!

Babam, I'm done with this one! They ended up turning out a lot more red than I hoped when I first started, and the fur came out pretty meh. However, I'm pretty satisfied. The linework was fun as shit, and I love what you did with meshing the two characters!

I may have to come back to this one later and spend some more time on the fur, though. -.- I'll repost if I end up doing some retouching!

I know that one doesn't belong to anyone here, but I've been floating around other places asking the same thing, and this one is the result of most of today's labor.

I accidentally returned to my old style a little, if you can't tell by the general lack of definition on the nose. uvu However, he turned out really pretty. I tried out a new thing with the highlights around the face that I'm really liking lots, which is a good three quarters of why I just went ahead posted this one - despite his lack of relations to any of you folk. This bab was super easy, and I'm pretty proud of how quick I churned him out btw.

[ Edit : And with this, I am ending my steam for today, folks! As always, I'll be back for around the same times tomorrow! ]
