I'm really fine with any kind of music, they all have something good to say about them. So that would be a solid "yes" to all of the above
Ok, then let's go: things I like to listen to when drawing. Either for atmosphere or for helping concentration. I put only a few videos to avoid swelling the message too much, but everything should be available on Spotify or Youtube.
Thy Catafalque: Anything from the discography. I like “Meta” a lot, there is this piece on it that I find very good for drawing: it's weird and inventive but goes forever, which would maybe be a drawback if I'm only listening, but when I draw I actually like how long and somewhat repetitive it is.
Kayo Dot: Super various discography, always excellent quality. I like Hubardo and Choirs of the eye best, because it's the heaviest albums and that's more my cup of tea; the last 2 are more mellow but excellent too.
Omb – Swinesong: My go-to album when I'm not enthusiastic about drawing. Its wackiness gives me energy.
Hewar: For eg. “Letters to a homeland”. This is a Syrian ensemble mixing traditional music and jazz. I'm a bit crazy about the clarinetist
Singer Dima Orsho is great too.
Here in a version with extra duduk. I always like some extra duduk
Marcel Khalife – Andalousia of Love: Oud, piano, voice mostly. When I need more relaxing music.
My two other oud favorites for drawing are Munir Bashir's "From Baghdad to Granada" and Nasser Shamma's "Maqamat Ziryab" album.
Shahram Nazeri, for example "Laleh-ye Bahar"
I particularly like sarangi when I need to concentrate: Ram Narangi, "The art of sarangi", is a good start.
I could go forever... But I'll try to go the the next category:
Operas! Very good for long drawing sessions!
My favorite for drawing:
Good old Purcell.
Britten. Very good to put me in a paranoid/uneasy/morbid mood. So I would not use these for drawing happy things. But very good for concentration. I wrote all my master and PhD theses on 'Peter Grimes' and 'Death in Venice'.
I also had good results with Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites and Wagner's Tristan und Isolde; but really, in term of opera it's really personal I think, those which will help concentration (also depending on language. Sometimes one's own language is distracting).
I hope there will be something for you in all that I have a lot of other ideas but I have to stop somewhere
