That is, if your comic (or cover of your novel) isn't already drawin in a realistic style.
I think it's really interesting to imagine them what they would look like in real life...

Besides manga style, I've been experimenting with drawing semi-relistic/realistic portraits for a while now. There's still a long way to go, but it was very fun to make :cry_01:

If you have semi-realistic/realistic portraits of your characters, don't be scared to show us here!~

I've tried to experiment with digital painting styles but it's never really worked out for my characters but what you have looks great!

It's always fun trying to portray your characters in styles outside of what you usually do though since the results can be pretty interesting. It's like casting for a live action movie or something

Yes! In fact, my entire comic was going to be in a semi-realistic painterly style before I decided it would drive me nuts and switched to anime style.

This is actually one of the original panels of one of my characters before a ton of rewrites and art changes, but he still looks basically the same.

To anyone who does draw in semi-realistic for your comic, I have so much respect for you.

Wow, yours looks really good @Sirell! Love the hair; I can never quite get that right.

Neither realism nor painting is my expertise, but I try sometimes  I am way better at realistic animals than realistic humanoids, to be honest, but for better or worse here are some of my OCs from various projects.

I definitely gave up on that first one halfway through. The rest actually had some effort put in ahaha.

I’m just creeping on this thread to say that you’re all amazing artists! I can draw semi realistic animals, but my default style is anime/manga so semi realistic humans just seems like freaking magic to me

My characters are anthro dogs so realism wouldn’t work without them diving head first into the uncanny valley haha.
