Just asking if anyone knows if it's possible to download all of one's comics en masse? I don't relish the prospect of having to screencap' all the ones I no longer have access to. Given the way Tapas is going, I think it's more important than ever to get offline copies of everything.
Thansk to anyone who can help.
Tapas doesn't allow to download comics as to protect creator's copyrights and make it harder for people to steal and re-upload their content on other sites.
You don't have digital versions of your comic?
Ditto what Ratique said. I always keep my pages in folders before uploading. It's important to keep digital copies on hand in case something goes wrong.
I'm kinda curious as to how you were uploading. Are you using a cloud? Was someone else uplosding for you? Did you loose your orginial files?
I do have copies for most of them, but some are on broken computers so I can't get those back. I understand the no-dowload protection, but I would have thought dowloading one's own stuff would be OK.
Same here - for the most part, but some are on old broken computers.
I have copies of about 2 thirds of them, but the older ones might be harder to get back as they're on computers that broke a few years ago.
I think because this is just a comic host instead of storage, nobody considered building a functionality like this onto the site.
I highly recommend cloud storage and multiple backups of your work, I do that too since computers are just so unreliable!
@ratique, @Jenny-Toons As someone who has fallen victim to way too many computer crashes/viruses I get where OP's question is coming from >_<"
@HRAM I tried via the single page edit, but you can't download your only pages from there either u_u" Sorry, so far screencapping is the only option I see, maybe @staff has an answer?
It's funny you say that because someone actually did once steal one of our comics and posted it to DeviantArt without credit! I had to get the admins involved as the uploader was impossible to talk to.
Yeah, mine was stolen too They can only make it harder, but not impossible, sadly.
I will say going forward, having a external hard drive of some kind or having a cloud will be important. I know these things happen once for every creator out there, and it's a rite of passage, so to speak. A very valid lesson to just have copies and back everything up.
Yeah, I try to have USB drives of everything I'm not OK about losing. Just wondered if there was a shortcut so I could get the early stuff back.
Actually, there's a way... though I'm not sure if it's okay to share publicly for above mentioned reasons (To be fair, it's quite simple stuff that's easy to find, nothing too complicated or some hAcKiNg) So I'll PM you @HRAM in a minute.
I find the pirating excuse a very bad one for not being able to download our own comic! It would only be relevant if pirates could hack into our account, which is an even larger issue. Most likely, the functionality was simply never considered, or not enough people asked for it.
Hmmmmm I'll just say two words: download managers.
(I have saved some comics solely for archiving & offline reading, pls don't ban me staff)
You know what. If you Use the mobile browser, you can easily download your comic even though you didn't allow embedding.I think that's one of the way for someone to steal them aside from screenshooting it.
and d**mn it's still works
(forgot that it's in another language but it said save photo. There you have it)
@cleo_san @/staff no longer works. You gotta ping michaelson, ratique or yoon.
Oooooh, the thing with the mobile browser is good to know, thanks! O_O
And ah, yes, I remember that info with the staff account, but I forgot about that since I haven't been very active in the forum in the last months - thank you for clarifying! =)
