How do I get more subscribers?

Hey! I've been here for about 6 months... I was very excited to start posting to Tapas, but I see that I only have 15 subscribers.... this is a bit discouraging. Does anyone have any tips on how to get more subs?

I haven't been here that long, and I don't do comics, so sadly, I don't have much advice to give.

I'm looking forward to reading what other people say, though. I'm in the same boat as you, but I write novels. Getting subs on Tapas is hard. Sometimes I wonder if readers even search or browse for new content or just read the premium stuff.

So, what I've been doing to increase my sub is sacrificing my lineage (i.e. children) to Dagon, the alien fish god of the sea. It doesn't seem like he could do much, but when you're an immortal fish-person, there's so much time. Through sheer number of years, the sub count will just climb and climb!

As far as I know, there are no shortcuts. Just keep trying to improve your craft to produce the best comic you're capable of. And use social media. Basically, do good work and talk about it.

It might also have something to do with your visual style. It's good, don't get me wrong, but there's always room for improvement. I like your use of stark colors, it's a solid callback to classic superhero comics, but it's difficult to get a sense of motion and all the people have a very stiff look to them. I'd also recommend adding some contrast between your backgrounds and foregrounds.

Personally I also don't have that much subs (about your number).
I'll try to answer this though.
What you can do is to just keep going. Keep writing/drawing whatever, and soon enough, more and more people will come by.
Other times, you can always experiment. You can try writing in different styles, or even using ink more in your different panels. Whatever works and is better than the previous one is something that you should keep.
It also works if you pray to Cthulhu.

There's always the dirt bag method of making a bunch of fake accounts and subscribing to yourself. Yes it's extremely scummy and people will find out right away, but hey more subs.

Honestly patience, and finding out what your comic does that other comics of the same genre does differently. Eventually people will find you and if they really like it sub you.

Same here. I've been on Tapastic for 5 months. It's all about the time and work you put into your comic. Practicing drawing, coming up with the story, etc. It's also about advertising here.

lol, I guess that could work on appearance. If people see that you have 100 subs, then maybe they will give you more of a chance. but a little too shady for me lol

Aside from people just enjoying your content, I find that people get more exposure when they interact with other people's work, and more exposure obviously increases your chances of people subscribing when there's more views.

Like sometimes when I find a comic/novel I love, I'll sub and comment on it, then I'll see the creator sub to my comic the next day. But it's kind of awkward, because then you're stuck wondering if they just subbing because you did (and I'm stuck hoping that they don't think I subbed expecting a sub back).

Oh, and definitely interact in the forums too -- I've found a lot of great works on there and after subscribing to the ones I enjoy, I've had some people do the same with mine.

Edit: I'd also recommend interacting with lesser known comics/novels! I think those creators will be more willing to check out your work because they're in a similar position, so they understand what it's like to be ignored or passed up. And it's just nice to spread the love, y'know? A lot of awesome works go unseen for various reasons.

Honestly, this is so relatable, but that's why I like forums. I would love to read your work, just send a link on here and I'd love to check it out. Also forums also consist of people who genuinely love feedback so just keep being active!
