How do you communicate with your readers?

Engage with your readers; emote that you appreciate them taking the time and effort to read your comic- as well as come back to read more. I think it's a really cool thing when as a creator you see the same faces come back each update to read the new page- it shows that they really like what you're doing, and they are willing to invest in you to help you succeed.

I hold 'Fan Events' every time I hit a milestone (usually every thousand subs on Webtoon + Tapas)
These can range from Q&A to polls and reader suggestions. My readers seem to really like them and I always get more comments on those than I do on my episodes.

Otherwise, I try to reply to as many comments as I can.

Because I'm so passionate about my comic Life of an Aspie, every time I update and my regulars comment on the pages, I often end up gushing about a certain character or a certain plot thread when I respond to them.

If I was a bigger creator, I'd love to hold a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) where I could really gush about all things LoaA related with people who get my comic and what its going for (which is to tell a good story with a main lead who happens to be on the autism spectrum).

I also try to engage my Twitter/Instagram followers as well every time I post new LoaA content or talk about the comic itself.

Ahh comments, i'd take a comment over a hundred subs any day. I make sure to reply to comments in my comic to make my readers feel that they're not being snobbed. Because as a reader, if the creator doesn't reply to the comments then I wouldn't leave some comments anymore and just read their work.

We try to reply to each individual comment. They took the time to write and it is so special to us, particuarly as we don't have many fans, so we get all excited. I feel like that's part of what it means to be a webcomic artist.

I usually just reply to most of their comments when I upload a new page ~

I try to be super active in my comments section, but not to the point the point that I respond to everyone~ It tends to come off as not as genuine at that point.

Fan events are also something I do! When I hit 500 subs I let them vote on whether or not they wanted a big drawing, a side comic, or a Q and A event. (I ended up doing all of them, cause I underestimated how long my side comic would take to draw, as it turned into a almost a whole chapter's worth) but they seem to LOVE being able to decide what they receive.

Character polls are also good! It's fun for them to tell you who their favorite characters are, and you can always draw a fun pic of the results. <3

Show your readers that you appreciate their comments! If the readers know that the creator is reading the comments, they will for sure say some cool stuff on your comic.
Just try and engage with the comment section as @akemikae but not too much. Replying to every comment I have is a habit I need to break

While I do reply with every comment, I think I broke that habit when I received a "First!" comment... I was like "What will I even reply to that?" XD
