How do YOU discover new comics?

I mostly stumble on them via Twitter, and occasionally via stuff that's trending on the front page of Tapastic. Also, I usually post thank-you-for-subscribing images on my readers' walls, and sometimes when I'm there I see stuff in their reading-lists that look interesting and click on them.

... I rarely subscribe to new comics, though. I've been here for over a year and a half, and my reading-list hovers around 70 - and some of those are a.) finished and no longer updating, or b.) updating very rarely/on hiatus.

I'm a very picky reader.

I browse the Fresh section on occasion (it's amazing how many REALLY cool series you can find that way!) and other times it's through twitter. I've discovered a large portion of tapastic users also tweet their updates. Some of my mutuals retweet 'em and yo, I love seeing the kinda work they follow. There's some crazy awesome talent on here I wouldn't have discovered without that.

"how to discover new comics" is a different problem to the one I have

I pretty constantly have a huge list of "comics I would probably like a lot but haven't got around to reading yet" that is getting added to every moment when artists I follow and respect talk about their favourite comics. I don't need to find more!

that's how it was in ye olden days of webcomics! Though nowadays the first thing I do is check to see if they have a social media presence -- a lot of webcomics now will post update reminders on Twitter or Tumblr instead of RSS, so you can follow them that way.

For me, I usually find new stuff on Twitter :3 People link their comics and other retweet them. I usually have twitter up and running all day on my computer as I don't find that very intrusive during my dayjob =)

But also, I've gotten some recommendations here on Tapas as well =)

I once asked on tapastic forum for recommendations. Got a LONG, LONG list of comics in bookmarks and still haven't read them all CX but at least every time I want to read something new, I can just pick a random one from there.

I also check series of people who comment on my series, sometimes series of people who comment on series I read. And series of people who post in forums. But I usually do that when I don't have much time to read, and they end up in my bookmarks, so it might take years for me to actually read them CX

i'll click on any comic, features, popular, trending, new and see if it's good. Most of the time it just has pretty art or bad art and no story. Same with most other comic sites. Oh well, I've been following a ton of comics and busy so looking for new comics and shifting through the billions out there I guess isn't really something I do anymore.

Whenever I get the feel to wanna read a new comic, then I'll go looking for one. I mainly will sift through titles here on Tapastic, unless i hear about a series that really catches my attention from elsewhere.

I like looking through the fresh part of Tapastic, and sometimes I just go thru the list of comics on Tapastic in Alphabetic order to find finished but good comics that I would probably never find otherwise.

Other than that, its usually randomly. Sometimes I see fanart of something and decide to go check it out.

Memes and gifs of anime versions of manga get me to many times check out the original.

And people I know usually give really good recommendations.

Also going to comic cons and expos I like walking through the artist alleys and picking up mini comics from different artists before then searching for them if I end up liking their works.

This. This is basically all I do! 8D I do browse trending, of course! But I love to crawl around Fresh and give new comics a chance. There really are some amazing series there that just don't get enough love. They get so buried. <33333

I seem to find more by catching some links through the forums, both here and on Comic Fury. I think through the forums you can get chatting with the artists and that helps too.

I like to go to the all comics section and search by popularity or in most cases, views. That way, I can find comics that have yet to actually be seen by anyone or perhaps lost in the fresh section. There are new comics every day, so this can lead to some gems.

I frequently creep new readers to see if they make a comic and have a read if they do. I also read a lot of comments left on other people's updates and get into a healthy creep spiral from there. I use the forum profile pages to check out the context of someone's comments if they provide a link. Some don't. Clicking links to comics directly from forum replies isn't something I do much, now I think about it. I guess over time I get a feel for a users angle and eventually get curious enough about they're saying to go see their comic first hand.

I don't browse staff picks much because, honestly, the staff and I have different tastes. Trending is usually chocked full of the same old stories and sometimes the spotlight doesn't float my boat. Besides that, I don't spend a lot of time browsing the site, usually just when I'm waiting in line somewhere or trying to sleep. I'm interested in knowing more about users, though, so if a user has a comic and they catch my interest I'll definitely take a look at their stuff.

Typically, I discover new comics from the forums. Other times I check out others reading lists.
I like reading and interacting on the comment above you threads or post your latest page threads-- I've discovered some fun comics that way.

Oh yes! XD I have so many awesome comics with huuuuge archives that I wonder if I'll ever get to them all. ;u; Too many awesome comics too little time.

This was mostly me being curious if there were new ways people were finding comics, because sometimes I find myself, not keeping with the times. ;u;

I find most comics through twitter or on the fresh/discover page(s). And other than that I have found a good number of great comics through the forums.

There's a degree of word of mouth; if my friends are all over smth, ill check it out. (besides omgcp. i cant for the life of me navigate that site)

on tapastic, i mostly.. dont? ive developed a fairly large itinery of comics i enjoy, so its rare that i pick up a new series. most of them comics are from forums, actually, primarily ones about LGBT comics (and a recent one for sharing comics with small fanbases. it pays off to trundle through a lot of stuff you dont like on threads like that because you can find some true gold) - theres also, of course, the occasional few from trending or highlight.

now and then, when im looking for smth new, ill go on 'fresh' and pick 3 comics from the first page to check out - ive really loved some of them, but it is a bit hit n miss.

when it comes to print comics i just dont. i (reluctantly) read a lot of marvel because ive been invested in it for years, and it takes up so much time i only read one or two non-marvel titles. i see a lot of comics my friends like, ones i want to check out, but for now its a distant dream...

I click a lot of forum links. I browse "Fresh" a lot. But probably the largest chunk of my webcomic list comes from people who participate in the webcomic chats on Twitter— I find lots and lots of people on Twitter. Once in a blue moon I'll read through the staff picks.
