How do you feel about

making a extras? I just made a new series for extra stuff like sketches, art and things, for the main comic, it only has two things right now, I thought it would be pretty neat. and I think i saw someone else doing it to.

what do you guys think series extras ?

I think extras are a beautiful thing xD I had to go on a long hiatus months ago to redraw stuff and I made an exras just to treat my readers for a while.

honestly i think it is a really cool way to let your readers in on some of that sweet behind the scenes action, and some artists take advantage of that with things like patreon. so, i think it is pretty cool, yeah

i am thinking of doing a sort of series split from my main comic that is more first person based, yet doesn't really contribute to the main comic. i dont want to go into too much detail, since it totally might happen, but yeah, i was def thinking of doing it myself

I was kind of not sure about doing that, at first I thought in upload those things after the ending page of a chapter, but then people would have trouble in looking for a pic with info. I guess I should do something like that for my comic, since there are things that would be better to be explain in an extra page rather than in the episode itself.

It can be interesting, especially in story driven comics. I'm kinda used to that sorta stuff that pops up in between chatpers of manga.

I think an extras comic is really nice if you have the time for it! It's a lot better than throwing them in to the comic itself and ruining the update flow. It allows for readers to get to know your characters a little better and for your characters to grow on the fans possibly. ^^

I thought about using my feed for that, but I realize over time, things will fall into obscurity the more I post.

I love all the extra stuff. All the maps and one offs and character sheets and all that, love it! I've normally just put them inline in the comic proper here on Tapastic but on my site I have them on their own tab "Appendix". Sort of like House of Leaves but without all the suck.

As some of you may already know, I, the creator of Life of an Aspie, a shoujo themed slice of school life comic have an "extras" comic called Susan's Secret Stash which acts as a gallery of sorts for LoaA. I post either concept art, fan art, special comics, etc. I would definetly reccomned making an extras gallery once you've established an audience for your main comic. I always find it fun to get a "behinds the scenes" look at what goes through the mind of a creator during the creation process of their latest project. Plus with the great sense of community here, it feels good to talk to fans and promote other creators by showing off fan art they made of my OC's

I post my extras on Patreon. : ) I do sketch-posts, extra sketch-comics between chapters, and semi-regular Q&As. There is a bunch of stuff that goes on behind the scenes with my comic, so it's neat to be able to share it somewhere with people who like the comic.

... I'm also considering adding a semi-regular tutorial and/or general storytelling babble-column thing to my Patreon, because I do so love babbling about my process, and there are people who seem to appreciate it.

I personally love seeing all the work behind the scenes, because a.) I can recognise stuff I do myself, and b.) learn new methods, and c.) just generally get to know the skeleton beneath the skin of the final product, which is neat!
