As a reader I used to prefer webtoon over tapas because the iOS tapas app always crashes and breaks for me. But lately the iOS webtoon app is also crashing and lagging. I guess the apps are on equal footing, unfortunately for the wrong reasons.
As a creator:
I like that I can delete reader comments on tapas. I wish I could delete comments on webtoon. Also why does webtoon even have a report button on their comments if they clearly ignore that report button and never do anything about the truly offensive(likely violated their own guidelines) type of comments?
Tapas tries to notify me of comments and likes and stuff, but I've always found the notification method is glitchy and doesn't work well. And TBH I'm not sure I care too much about notifications overall. On one hand it's nice, but then you have those days with the spam bots and you get 30notifications from -insert generic house wife name from the 60s- . And also that one user that keeps resubbing to you after every update? What's the deal gp?
Tapas unfortunately doesn't come close to webtoons on audience size... I have something like more than 45times the amount of subscribers on webtoon than on tapas. Tapas has never promoted me so that probably plays a part in it, but I guess it's just nice to be noticed by the site itself, and so webtoon definitely has that going for it. Webtoon actually promotes a decent number of comics IMO. To those complaining about this, it was really bad 2 yrs ago, but I think they've definitely made some changes in the right direction. So I'm hopeful they'll keep up with that forward progress. Tapas seems to be getting better too lately, but I don't navigate the app as much cause it sort of confuses me.
