How do you know when you are chosen for the Staff Pick or Spot Light?

Ok I have been wondering this for a while. If you don't log on everyday you might miss when you have the spot light or are a staff pick. My question is this:

How do you know when you are chosen for the Staff Pick or Spot Light? (This assumes that you are not logging in everyday can see your comic up there on the front page.) Do you get a message saying something?

They usually tell you ahead of time via a pm on your wall.

For me, I never learned about my comic coming up in the Staff Picks or Daily Snack unless readers told me about it.

For the front page Spotlight, Michael sends you an email about a month ahead to tell you your comic was chosen for the spotlight and asks you to make a banner of specified size for the spotlight. At least that's how it worked in June, maybe with the different frequency to the Spotlight now it's a bit different.

I didn't receive a notification when I was put in Staff Picks, but you kind of stay in there for a while so you'll probably know about it even if you don't log on every day.

I received a mp before the Daily snack and an other about the spotlight, but usually you have a hint seeing your subscribers suddenly grow very rapidly.

To support that point, I remember talking to a fellow comic writer on Tapastic that their subs expanded 10-fold literally overnight (It went from about 180-something to over 1k--no joke) because they were featured on the Daily Snack. I don't think they knew that they were getting featured until they checked their email and got the Daily Snack email from Tapastic like everyone else!

Same as @fanyart, I never really got told about my daily snack or when I got to 'new and noteworthy' now named staff picks, but for the spotlight they contact you to make a banner for the website.

I heard nothing about being on staff pick or daily snack I honestly had to be told what this was because it happened right as I joined and I was totally lost. I want to know what happens when people get selected for spotlight, I assume you gotta be asked about making a banner like those before me said... so that's cool...What a dream <3
