I'm curious (from both sides of the equation), what drives you to check out a new series on Tapas? If you're a creator, what has brought in your first few subscribers? If you're a reader, how did you find the series?
When you create a new series, the only real place you'll show up is very temporarily in the "Fresh" section, which causes difficulty getting views. And I'm not talking about getting a bazillion subscriptions or likes, but rather enough views to determine if you're doing a good job (by the feedback or lack of it).
I'll be honest, I never browse the Fresh section so I hardly expect to be found there if/when I launch a new series. Here's what's gotten ME to subscribe to new series.
- A creator I'm already following on Tapas creates a new series and I get notified of it.
- A creator I'm already following elsewhere makes the move to Tapas and posts it on social media.
- Sometimes a comic in the Daily Snack will pique my interest
- VERY rarely will I check the staff picks.
I'd love to hear your thoughts! There is an ocean of comics out there so it's unreal to expect to get a lot of views when you start, I totally understand that. It just made me think that a "New Series" spot on the main page that works like Fresh, except it sorts the newest created series (with an episode) first. Know what I mean? I'm not sure that would work either, I mean I already admitted that I don't check the Fresh section...
Thanks!
Jim
