Hot off the heels of the "glow up challenge" that people have been posting selfies with, why not post our art progress? Instead of, #HowHardDidAgingHitYou, it's #HowHardDidYouKeepTrying! This is inspired by something a local convention of mine is doing.
I know not everyone has been drawing for that long, but you're still welcome to participate by posting a comparison of pieces from a shorter span of time apart.
Let's see 'em! Feel free to include a link to your comic, too.
I think I glowed up.
well I can't post anything from 2009 since I was literally 5 and I started my comic in 2017, but I'll do something different this time.
before I started Mirror Monster I kept changing my idea of how the comic should start, so I would keep sketching out pages for it until I came up with my final idea. here's the oldest one from around 2016.. honestly at the time I wanted to make it more... relatable for myself since I was an edgy lil 13 year old but uh,, that was probably not a great idea
I'm really bad at dating my work, so i'm not sure how far back some of these go, but this is the very first piece of concept art for Tom and Shelldon:
Here's how they've grown up. (But if you look at my artwork, I'm still working on making it consistent):
As for making manga:
3 Year Ago:
Now:
Its only been around 2 years since I started my comic but I think I've progressed quite a bit since I started.

Keep drawing, guys. It gets better.
2009
oh jeeze.... so...2009
2018, a test page before we decided on the longform format (except... this was colored by my comic partner)
10 years can do a lot my friends
Everything I did waaay back when I started drawing my comic at 15 was on paper with watercolour pencil crayons ^_^;...I guess the character designs didn't change that much. Vine's still the same colour, but the cat is gray now instead of brown.
UHHHH I think this was at least 2010. I don't think I was making comics yet in 2009..
Here is a page from my buffer pile made this week aha
9-10 years difference, eh?
This first one is either from 09 or 10
2008Aww cheese, I had to dive in my folders searching this, is really embarrassing X_D(I'm only drew this, other person does the screen-toning)(sorry, is in spanish)
2018I'm pretty satisfied with this one
I don't think I was even making comics back in 2009, but here's my improvement from 2017:
to 2019:
I don't think I drew any comics in 2009 but here's something from 2007!
And here's something recent:
At least I've learned how to draw straight lines.
2009.... 2009........... i dont think i have anything i drew when i was 9???
i think this is from 2010?? give or take a year. i think i made some comics as early as 2010, but theyre all lost to the wind
and this is from the latest chapter of my comic:
EDIT: oh, i didnt see the 'comics' part in the title... oops
I made a lot of comics as a kid but I don't have any scanned, the most comicy things I have on the computer is like separate drawings I liked to play as slideshows... (Sorry I'm not gonna go take pictures)2009
Well... I haven't drawn much in 2019 due to writing my thesis, but I can show some stuff from 2018 and older XD
Here's for a character design/redraw:
And this is a manga page in comparison:
If anyone is interested in reading it, here's the link =)
2013
2019
i dont have anything from 09 but heres my very first one from 2010/11-ish vs 2019
but like ofc the difference would be drastic because its age 12 vs 20
i posted my first comic in 2016 lol i still think i've grown a lot
Heck, seeing how everyone here has improved so much makes me want to check out all of your comics! O_O
Let's keep on drawing!
