Life of an Aspie creator here. As many regs here on the forums already know, I'm quite passionate about my little comic about Asperger's Syndrome as told from a female perspective. (I'm a guy in real life btw.). Am I rich? Hell no. Do I have legions of fanboys who will defend LoaA to the death for me? Nah and tbh, I'd rather ignore that sub set of fans if my comic ever becomes big. As for how long it took for my comic to be successful after disqualifying the two aforementioned main factors that most people think make or break most media products, I can honestly say that I spent months aimlessly grinding away on my comic before I accidently stumbled across the idea of "networking" and establishing a connection with fellow creators here and even then, I'm still kind of "underground" as a comic creator at the moment.
However, I've managed to attract both readers with some form of autism to my comic and people who know someone in their personal life who is on the spectrum as well. I know for a fact that didn't come from sheer dumb luck despite having lackluster art present for most of LoaA. In fact, having over 150 subs willing to overlook amateur "western" animu art for a story that speaks to them in some way is in my opinion very telling of just how "successful" I really am.
