How long did it take you to get to 1000 subs on Line Webtoon?

Curious: how do you fine folks acquire subscribers so darn fast? Is it mostly the appeal of your art style/premise or do you have any techniques/secret magical pacts with divine cosmic spirits you'd care to share?

In my opinion, it could purely be luck, and maybe the art aka first impression. Typically here in Tapastic, if your art is good (and usually, USUALLY if your comic is BL) you are gonna be watching that sub count climb like there is no tomorrow. LINE Webtoon however does not favor BL but your typical shoujo romance, so if you have a romance, usually enough your sub count will explode. Me I'm probably in the grey zone, my comic has no romance but fantasy is another one that does pretty well on Webtoon so that might be one of the factor. (Your art and storytelling should also be enjoyable too, the genre only gives you so much boost.)

Thanks for the info. There might well be love of any kind showing up in my comic, but it's an Image/Vertigo-style sci-fi satire/body horror, so not a genre offering identified with webcomics so much. I love the art in the book (I'm just the author) but I'm thinking I need a cover image that shows off the interior art style.

Oh man, it's been a while but I think it might have been around 3 or 4 months. To be fair though, my comic got picked on their feature thing for discover at one point which helped increase the growth rate.

took me about 3 months on line webtoon, but I do a horror comic which is lovingly put into the "other" category with the romance toons. it's tough going against those dang romance toons...

I'm at 658 subs on Webtoons and 105 on Tapastic. It seems to be part random and part comic itself. For both sites the genre I put it in is Slice of Life but I might try and change it to fantasy to see if there are any drastic changes next update.

Well, yesterday was my 1 month aniversary on webtoons and i am currently at 130 subs...its not as insane as some people here in the comments, but i think its an good average for a sci- fi comic, which appears on webtoons in the "others" section.
as far as i can tell it has an exponential increase in subs, so each update attracts a littlebit more people than the one before...

We've been at this for less than 6 months and we haven't even broken 200 subs but it's not really surprising given that we're not in a very popular genre (namely sci-fi). We were gaining subs regularly right up until they changed the algorithms on us and since then we have barely made much ground. That and we're trying to compete with a market that is heavily invested in romance and drama.

It's been a bit disheartening not going to lie but the community here and on other mirrors has been so warm and encouraging it has kept us going.
