I do my comic in the vertical strip format, and each chapter/update would typically have 20 -30 panels and it would take me 7-10 hours, but probably a lot more for something like 30 panels XD
If you guys are interested in seeing what my panels look like, here's the link: Project Stalker4
It depends so much for me.
When I do page where the characters talk and do nothing, it can take about 1-2 hours.
My most recent page are those that took me 1-2 hour to make.
However, when I do a page that have more the artistic touch, then it can take for me about 5 hours to make.
But one time, there is a page that made me take DAYS to complete. Not because it was difficult to draw (it was really simple pic), but what I did was such a dark and emotional scene, so it was just hard for me to sit and draw it. I had to something else just to make feel better. Now, I've finished that page, however, it's not out yet in Tapastic.
Haha way too long is propbably the correct answer!
My latest page probably took around 4 days to do, though I wasn't spending full days on it.
1Overall I'd say it takes about 18 hours a page and the colouring is the majority of that. Probably takes about 1 hour to sketch, 3 for the lines and another hour for the flats- so really colour intensive for me!
A page for Harmony Monsters1 is kind of difficult to figure out how long one page takes because I usually am doing multiple pages at once (pencil a few, then ink them all, then color them all) and depending on the complexity of the panels and what's in the scene. On average though, I feel like one page could take probably 3-4 hours with the most taxing part being the pencils and laying everything out. below is an example of my latest page, though simple it look a bit less time then a normal page.
i usually take 2 days per page, but i dont do only one page per time. if i'm not distracted and in good form, i use 5-7 hours to line 2 or more pages (4-7 panels each w backgrounds sometimes?) and rest!!! on the second day, again 5-7 hours, i apply all base colors then shadows and finishing it up!! : D
Oh man, currently for my comic Those of Fate1 it usually takes me a full day to finish a page (sketch, lineart and colour). Sometimes though, it can take me way longer so I guess it depends on the page really. I'm learning a new program as I do it though (clip studio), so I'm hoping that with time I will get a bit faster without sacrificing quality of course
When I used to make my comic in black and white (and used paint tool sai) I could usually complete 2 pages a day if I tried hard enough. I kind of miss it, since it was easier to keep a buffer going but I much prefer the colour and style I'm using now!
Well for me my comic is a side thing first and for most i really want to place as much time as i can on it, so my timely manner is terrible right now
lets talk about the chapter as a whole:
-sketching: the whole chapter can take up to at least a 4 days to a week..... yeah very long
-drawings: take the longest, they can be up to weeks to month on end... (due to my job and other responsibilities.) also i want my illustrations to be clear and i really want to work on my quality.
- inking/coloring: its can take up to another 2-3 weeks, but much faster than the drawing stage.
now one page, would be most likely sketching a few minutes to 1 hour, the longest stage drawing ca be a whole day or 2 and inking/ coloring can be 1-2 days as well.
it really depends on my weekly schedule if im heavy at my normal job or if i got a few days off.
Like a lot of people it's hard to judge because I'm working when I get the chance, most often in small bursts in the early hours of the morning. I did try to time a page from start to finish and it came to about 20 hours, but I think a fair portion of that was trying to remember where I was going with it at 4am the previous morning, over and over.
If you can sit down at the same time every day and give it your full attention without too many distractions, there's no doubt you can slash the time it takes to make a page in half. Unfortunately, paying for food and shelter comes first!
Typically, around 2-3 hours long for me on Far Out, but it also depends on the complexity/length of the panels.
This took a solid 3 hours or more:
Whereas some of my earlier ones took only an hour or so! I'm a tad of a perfectionist on the coloring so that probably takes up the majority of the time ^^'
I can do about 20 pages in two weeks if I have the time.
Like I did with this chapter https://tapas.io/series/Unknown-War2
It depends on the page format. I find that pages that are done in a cinematic storyboard style are faster than traditional format, since more story is told in a traditional full page, whereas only one still-frame is being told in a cinematic panel.
This type of page takes about 2 hours or so? This is from my comic Behind These Birchwood Walls1 which has a smaller world and a shorter story arc. So I can afford to do full screen panels as opposed to multiple smaller panels to one page.
Almost Never is drawn like a traditional comic and one page takes probably at least 4-5 hours.
It depends on the complexity. Backgrounds take me ages, while drawing people is easier for me.
Sometimes it happens that I'm not happy with how the panels are places so I need to move them around until it works for me.
I draw Fänger1 in black and white with heavy inking, but yet it takes me some time to decide how to make it work with the monochrome. I would say about 3-4 hours for an easy page (like the one below), but up to 2 days (with breaks) for a complex one with details and architecture
Anyway, I'm new to comic making so I'm very happy to listen to tips and feedback!
My first comic was black and white and took me like a week or two to finish a page. My new one which is in full colour used to take me a month or more to finish one page. I was also going through a heavy depression at the time so it was really hard. Now I'm doing better and I've been getting faster I've recently been able to complete two whole pages within a single month.
