How many AD IMPRESSIONS need for AD REVENUE ? I got 81 Ad impressions and 0 $ Ad revenue

100 impressions on one Ad in one day got you 1 cent back in 2019 -2021, before Tapas was taken over by some bigwig Korean company.

Now it isn’t very clear how it works, but it sure has been a while since I got anywhere near the Ad Rev my series made in 2020 and 2021.

The $2.95 is the total Ad Rev since 2019 (four years), so I’d say don’t hold your breath to make big money from Ad Rev here. Look for supporters to donate Ink instead.

I really wouldn't hold your breath for adrev honey. Depending on the period (because ad rates go up around consumerist holidays like christmas) 100-300 ad impressions can make 1 cent on the dollar. If you're like me and live somewhere where the currency is stronger than the dollar, this wouldn't even be a penny.

Like others have said before, ink donations are likely going to be the only meaningful income to your comic on tapas unless you start getting hundreds of thousands of views regularly.

It's also a good idea to offer things like merch and ko-fi/patreon for people who would like to support you more directly, that's often a lot better than adsense for most people even with only one patron.

For example I've had adrev activated for over a year now, I think I broke 10 cents in adrev in total last month, but I've made money through my comic via patreon, tabling at conventions selling my comic's merch, and soon thanks to my crowdfunding campaign I'll be able to sell physical copies of book 1 at conventions too :3 if you want money from your comic it kind of requires finding multiple alternative sources.

You could encourage readers on desktop to disable AdBlock for Tapas. However, the payout is still going to be very low.

Always assume you're going to get paid jack shit for views compared to what the platform rakes in. I don't think Tapas is as aggressively greedy about it as Spotify, but the "gig economy" and the rest of that bullshit is, as stated, bullshit.

You want to get paid for online, Patreon and Kofi are about your only realistic choices. Treat the platforms as "free" hosting and nothing more.

It's been a slow month for ads, but here's my breakdown:

To put this into perspective, I have over 1 million views and my two series have a total of 1500 episodes, so if a person binges through my main series, that gets me 1.3K views which would probably be around $0.06. I've had ad revenue since March of 2018, so it's taken almost 6 years to reach $66. Even if I had 1,400,000 million views a month, that would still be only around $80.

As per some suggestions above, ink donations from readers will make you much more revenue than ad impressions. Or start a Patreon/Kofi.

I hope you can live from comics one day Like I said, ads won't get you much but doing things like participating in inksgiving when that comes around, starting a patreon for early access even if no one's on it yet just to have the option or one time tip jars like ko-fi are good options to start making a little money. It won't be much at first, nowhere near enough to live off, but baby steps are important and we all have to start somewhere.

Like stupid example but I was so happy when I could pay for better quality merch for my small business with money from patreon. It meant I wasn't paying for it out of pocket like I was doing. Now I'm at the point where I can reinvest the money from merch sales to make the next batch of merch and have some left on the side, still not livable wages yet but it feels like I'm getting somewhere, you know?

Ngl this is kinda very disheartening to read 🥲I guess I completely misinterpreted this help article Tapas made here:

I thought it was saying every ad impression was $0.007, but after reaching about 166 impressions (which would have been about $1.162), and still being at $0, I realized this wasn't the case and then came across this post... I guess the actual amount paid per impression is closer to $.00007. 🫥 Could the article have worded things anymore confusingly?

Hopefully this information here can help some other creators out.

From what I've heard I think it's more a case of that article being wildly out of date.

Adrev used to be better apparently and I wouldn't be surprised if that was it's old conversion rate, but like with Youtube tapas got too big for that rate to be sustainable as more and more creators joined the platform and more and more readers came and bumped them up to 100+ subs so they completely tanked the adrev for creators to avoid going under. I think they should definitely update the article if an updated one isn't already available.
