How much coin/money would you want to draw a profile picture for someone else?

I originally wanted you to draw me a Rice Krispy's-themed profile picture for 200 tapastic coins. I would have given you them to you through your webcomic tipping service but then the comments came in. I honestly thought that 200 tapastic coins would be more money that 17 cents. What do you think is a good coin amount for drawing a profile picture? I am no artist and have no idea how much tapastic coins/money it would cost for a profile picture.

Well, assuming it might take around an hour to do, and assuming someone was willing to work on it for ~$10/hour (most skilled artists would charge more than that)... then around $10, which equals ~12,000 tapas coins. Even then there is never a guarantee anyone will want to do it.

If you make something like this into a contest then you would have to offer even more to compensate for the risk that an artist spends time working on it and doesn't win anything. It's more economical to just hire one person rather than making a competition.

Also it's more economical to just use normal currency (like via PayPal) rather than tapas coins for payment, since Tapas itself makes a certain profit margin on the coins. For example, it might cost you $10 to buy 'x' number of coins from Tapas, but when someone tries to withdraw them, they are only redeemable for less than $10 (maybe ~$8 or $9).

Doing things with coins is like using a middle man.
It'd be much simpler to just directly commission someone and send them the money over paypal or similar.
You could put up a post like "Looking for a profile picture artist" or something along those lines, list what you're looking for art wise and what price range you're hoping for, and wait for some artists to respond to the offer until you find someone whose art you like and who agrees to the price.
Coins are... silly, in my opinion. At least for this purpose. They may be more useful with the tipping feature, but I dont have any experience with it as of yet.

I would never accept tapas coins as a payment for commission work. They are no way equivalent to real currency and the way they add up makes it seem like they're worth A LOT more than they actually are.

For a profile portrait that would be used as advertising across multiple social media my prices, personally, would start at about $100 for the simplest of styles and go up from there depending on the complexity and level of rendering you're looking for.
