How much do you get paid for making a comic?

Hello so I am a new publisher here on tapas and I've read that if you get 100 subscribers on your comic, you can unlock the Ad-revenue and get paid. And I'm curious to know how much you will get paid for from the ad-revenue.

Yeah, I say it's better to have another source to provide income (like a ko-fi or a paetron). Whether it's Tapas or Webtoons -- making money through ads isn't entirely easy, so you shouldn't really rely on it. A lot of people who make money on the ads also do commissions, payment tiers, and etc.

It depends on how many actual readers you have & if they allow their desktop or phones to promote ads on Tapas. You're better off unlocking the ink feature and asking your readers to donate ink(which transfers into money as well) as opposed to ad rev; you can get more in ink than in ad revenue- especially when they have Inksgiving events.

Like Shanny mentioned that adblock makes a difference--so if you have a series that is largely page format on a browser (like mine) you're gonna make way less than a phone comic where it's very hard to install ad-block (mine has made 2 cents and will probably stay that way for the forseable future until I get a phone comic up). Kinda sucks because I love page format, but thems the breaks in 2020. But like Youtube, no one lives off of ad revenue anymore really. So they do merch and donation incentives instead (like inksgiving which will be in a few months. Luckily, right before inksgiving, there's been chances in the past where you can ask to have ink unlocked even if you do not have the right number of followers yet. I dunno if they'll do it again this year but they've done it in the past.)

Once you get 250 subscribers it unlocks the ability to receive ink. I'm still about 30 subscribers from that myself. I HAVE unlocked ad sense with the 100 subscribers and I've earned about .08 cents US... soooooo don't expect to get rich from making a web comic. It's more about the journey and sharing a story or characters you like.
