How much posting on your wall is too much?

The only thing that really annoys me is the way replies work.

Oh goodness yes! If a wall post that I replied to sparks a comment train and a flood of notification from all the replies I'll actually go back and delete my comment to stop the notifications. I agree that that is very irritating.

I believe daily announcements should be avoided. For one, it can be annoying to readers if they're constantly getting notifications about random stuff that have nothing to do with the series or creating or events. Posting random stuff should only happen once in a while, not every blipping day.

Also, kind of like the boy who cried wolf, the more your posts have little importance (in accordance to the amount you do per week) the less people will pay attention. So if you have something going on, post less, so that your followers will actually consider looking at it and maybe interact with it, rather than just thinking, "oh, it's probably another livestream notification." and not look at it at all.

So I would say, put some thought into your wall posts, because some of your followers get tons of notifications. If you don't like getting needless notifications, then your followers even more.

I've actually lost some subscribers because of this. Even if they like your content, they might unsubscribe if they keep getting too many notifications from you. I've done it myself before. I really didn't want to, but all of those notifications got annoying after a while.

Once a week maybe is good, I fall under the "too many is annoying" catagory. But that's just because I don't like how notifications for the comics I read are mixed with notifications for my comic, so I get kinda miffed sifting through 20+ "-blank- shared a post with subscribers" to see if there's anything for my stuff, it wouldn't be so obnoxious to me if there were a button to switch them off or if they had a separate tab though.

I've tried communicating with that little shit about harassing you on more than one occasion, he doesn't seem to get what people are trying to tell him, I'm starting to think he doesn't understand English or might be more on the slow side, but of course that doesn't make it okay for him to be acting the way he is.

I hate daily announcements and I tend to unsub people who do that, for me it's basically If it's not important, comic, store or stream related then I don't want to know. I don't care about where you went for vacation or anything like that, save that for twitter or something.

I post a wall post about once a week. And so far its been for a holiday or to post gift art I received for my series. Hope that's not bad. I don't really care if I'm getting notifications when I sign in.. doesn't bother me at all. I don't get email notifications or push notifications, I turned that off. Perhaps if I was I'd be more irritable.. shrug

I've definitely unsubscribed from comics when the authors are constantly posting announcements. It a shame because I've really enjoyed a few of the stories but just got so tired of notifications about daily livestreams and random doodles; it's less convenient but I opted to just bookmark some of those comics and manually check them for updates.

Not to say I don't enjoy those posts at all! It can be great and I know from experience that it's super important for artists to be able to connect with their audience outside of their series. I certainly don't begrudge anyone for that! It's just when I start seeing the same author notifying me of the same thing every other day ... it becomes a real turn-off after a while.

Having subscriptions come part-and-parcel with wall announcements is a bit frustrating. I understand why it works that way and I know I'm not obligated to look at every post, but still. I'd be cooler with it if author posts were separate from notifications pertaining to my own comic, the same way episode updates are their own thing.

It'd do away with that little surge of excitement-turned-disappointment upon seeing that red notification bubble only to find out it's three announcements about livestreams or another random sketch.

One thing I also find annoying about wall posts is that if I comment on a popular post, say I was the first to notice it and respond, I will get every reply thenceforward as a notification. Posters, bewarb!

If only there was a "turn off notifications for this post" option.

You know what drives me nuts? When creators post a wall notification about their comic update! I ALREADY GET NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT THAT! &#$(^&(@#$%

Question: if you make a wall notification then delete it, will it stjll show up for people who weren't online during it? Like for example, I make notifications when I'm live streaming but I delete them once I'm done with the stream. If one of my subscribers just didn't check tapastic before the post was deleted, do they still get a notification for it? Or do they get one and when they go to check it get some "this post has been deleted" message?

No, I don't think they get the notification if you delete your post. I haven't yet run into that situation where I encountered a, "This post has been deleted messaged" nor have I received response from bummed readers that they missed a stream but got a notification.

I've stopped using the wall .... no one read it when I put up important comic related information such as comic cons or hiatuses (I put it there so I didnt clog up my comic with non comic pages which are problematic for binge readers) but noone read them.

I have more or less 'given up' on the wall feature.

Yeah, I thinks that's another issue. Not many readers read wall posts. Maybe just a handful of them.

Because of that, I kind of do both methods. I wall post and put a short announcement image at the bottom of a comic post for important announcements.

I'm still trying to navigate my wall for contests and what not-- I've posted occasionally about things unrelated to my comic, but I always turn the bell off for those. It's more to show people I am active on my wall if they want to engage-- which-- like others have said-- most don't!

I've unsubscribed from a certain creator because she was posting on her wall several times a week at best, and several times a day at worst. It's sad, because I liked her comic, but I got so sick of the constant updates. If you rarely do live-streams, then by all means - announce it when you're doing one. But if you do one almost every day I just lose interest - I usually don't have the time to watch them anyway due to different timezones or because I'm at work.

As a creator I feel like I should have more patience with this – I've posted a few updates on my wall too! But I think it would've been a little different if other creators' wall posts had a separate notification system or something like that. Your reading list and activity feed is separated, so maybe there should've been a separate notification system for wall posts too. That way you avoid making people excited thinking someone's liked or commented on their own comic and then instead being disappointed that it's just pointless update #109 that week from the same creator. And then when you feel like it, you can go to the wall post activity feed to check out the latest updates from the creators you follow

People using their walls like it's social media is very. annoying. for the most part it's lead to me ignoring most posts when they pop up. Then I end up missing out on important info like hiatuses and such. I'm subbed to around 200 comics at the moment and I don't have the energy to care about each wall post especially when some of them post 3 or 4 times a day. I get that people use it to interact with each other, but it's annoying to people who just want to read a certain artists comic.

Not sure if it's the only reason I would unsub, but If I was on the fence and the creator was just spamming posts then it would definitely push me over.

I think I've only done one wall post ever and that was to let people know that my character made a guest appearance in another persons comic. Everything else I would leave in the comic description or just make an update comic for.

I think the problem is that Tapastic put ALL kinds of notifications in one "box": wall updates, feedback, comic chapters updates!
But I feel a bit annoyed by "there won't be any updates" notifications, I don't really need to know that!
