How much time do you spend on social media?

I realize that you have to socialize in order for your art or comics to gain more exposure and I know it really takes time. A lot of time to do. The thing is, the more time you spend on doing social media, the less time you'll have to do your artworks. So I'd like to know how much time you spend on social media per day or week and how you manage your social media presence without disrupting your drawing schedule?

I spend a good amount of time on social media, and it doesn't really get in the way of my drawing schedule much (I'll admit to getting occasionally distracted.) I tend to keep several windows open in my internet browser while I'm drawing and check them intermittently. It also helps that most of my social media accounts are linked up with my phone, which notifies me when something important happens.

I don't spend any time in social media. I really couldn't care less what people had for dinner or what coffee they are drinking.

Not enough, I should be taking advantage of it more but I honestly just don't enjoy using it, even for just connecting with friends. Every once and a while I try to go back to it but it doesn't take long for me to lose interest again and forget about it

usually the first 1-2 hours of the start of my day I catch up on social accounts and to stay active there. Then I head back to work and check back in every now and then. I don't get distracted very easily from work =P

But I'd like to dig in to social media because I really want to build a fanbase for my artworks and my webcomic The Angel with Black Wings

I'm actually following a similar pattern as @jacintawibowo although I could only manage to reply to some stuffs but I couldn't get any self-promotion done.

So I'd like to know some info especially those who are trying to build a fanbase just like me.

I try to keep it within 40 minutes or less per day (I try to be consistent). But it's mainly being active here on Tapastic because I don't have any social media accounts for my webcomic.

Facebook is just to keep track of friends though, I don't do any promoting there.
Tumblr's my main site. It's mostly for my own personal interests, but I reblog Demon House from its site to my main art tumblr every Thursday. And I'll post any wips or illustrations of my series on my main when I feel like it.

Facebook is limited to what social groups you're in, you have to know a bunch of people for your stuff to circulate and find its audience. A main site is good to host your comic if you want free reign for the site design and organization, but you still have the problem of actually promoting your work and getting it in front of people's eyes.

I like tumblr because people can search for things using tags and key words and if you tag your stuff appropriately, it can come up on someone's screen who would never see your comic otherwise. Also it's easy to reblog a post and share it and things can go viral pretty easily there.

I check all my social media sites three times a day, morning, afternoon, and before I go to bed. Sometimes I wander but I try not to spend too long on them so i can get work done.

I have been known to get lost on Deviant art for an hour or so :v

I spend maybe and an hour or 2 social networking when I am promoting. Honestly though I don't use it enough otherwise I would not be so obscure. I spend most of my time actually working on my actual comic .

Probably a bit too much. I work from home, using my computer, so keeping Twitter open in one tab has become a habit.

I've been trying to break that habit, though, and am taking regular breaks from social media. Twitter is awesome for keeping in touch with people and finding out what they're up to (I follow a lot of other comic artists+a lot of friends that live far away) - but it can also be pretty stressful and tiring. It's also kind of a time-sink, which cuts into my drawing-time.

But I'm managing it well enough, I think!

On the bright side, I don't have an FB-account, so my social media time-sinks are only Twitter and Tumblr.

I spend a lot of time on Twitter but not so much on FB these days. I do have an FB page for my comic though and post updates to it, just as another method for people to keep up to date. I recently joined Tsu too, which has been interesting. I've made very nearly as much in a month on there as I have in around 4 or 5 months on Tapastic (although this is a very small number indeed!) Time will tell if that continues but for the moment I'm motivated to keep posting to it.

I post updates to G+ and Tumblr too but rarely use them for any other reason. I just like to give people as many ways to follow me as possible. I don't have too much idea of how many people follow me on each platform though, so can't tell you much about whether it's worth it! I really need to look into automating the posts...
