I've been getting steady number of new readers since I started, which I attribute to promotion on other platforms (outside of Tapas), however I've been wondering how readers discover comic on Tapas itself?

No talk about getting on popular or trending, just how small creator who doesn't have any platform to promote themselves would get readers?

My comic doesn't show on fresh or new for me, as well as it doesn't appear in its category, which leads me to believe it's not the the way? How then? :blank:

As a reader, I find creators on places like Twitter

I usually look around the first pages of fresh, trending and popular. From time to time I see my own comic on these pages.

Do you seek specific hashtags or follow somebody who reblogs a lot of comics/artists?

I follow artists as a default and if they have a comic, I'll read it. I also follow a couple comic twitter accounts that specifically repost when a creator posts a new chapter or page.

one for example is @promotecomics

I see. Guess something went wrong that I'm not showing on fresh. Maybe be something wrong on my side.

Thank you for reply!

I love going to one of the genres I like, and just clicking fresh with premium options turned off...I’ve found a ton of my favs that way! Probably a few through the forums but most I find are from just seeing what updated recently

I never checked if I appeared on Fresh. I have very small number of views per new page even after months updating regularly every week.

I began to use the forum more often to see if I can get people to notice it, it has been working a bit, but like people here mentioned, that's not the normal method of acquisition by most people.

Shameless self promotion

On a more serious note, i stalk comment threads like these for new content and find out who has similar art work to mine or similar stories.I follow novels only if a person has subscribed back to me or they have an interesting plotline.Of late I've been stalking comment threads on other people's comics too since that's where all the cool kids (aka readers/viewers ) are

I try to be active on the forums here, and if I see someone post some cool art, I tend to try to check out their comics. Or if someone interacts with me I check out if they have any series of their own.

Participating on these forums helped bring my viewership up. (I only wish Webtoon had something similar.)

Joining a Tapas creators' group on social media couldn't hurt either. There's The Tapas Crew on Instagram, as well as these groups on Facebook:
