Hey anyone!
I've been on Tapastic for a few weeks and was wondering. "How do you make friends on Tapastic?"
A bit more specifically people who post their comics. (But yes, I am open to anyone who might want to talk and become friends  Do I just say something like "Hey I like your comic and would like to become friends?" Because I find that kinda awkward. So If I could get some advice I'd appreciate it!

be chatty!!

join in on the forums here, firstly - if you regularly provide interesting conversation both in the fun threads (bitching, watercooler, others that come and go) and the more technical threads, people come to be aware of you, and if youre friendly here people will be friendly with you.

on tapas itself, this also goes - if you like someones comic, comment!! a lot!! send them DMs (occassionally, dont overdo it) about things youve noticed they might want to change (be nice though!! ive developed a good rapport with other creators by DMing them now and then w a comment abt their icon or their lettering that goes along the lines of 'hey i really love your comic, especially x element and y element, and i wanted to let you know that (z minor issue.) i think if you just tweaked that a little itd take your comic up from a high 9 to a solid 10, and i really wanna see that happen. keep up the great work!! ill be here cheering you on.')

the important thing with that, though, is be sincere. and patient. i dont think its a good idea to directly approach someone - particularly bigger creators - with just 'can we be friends?' because often that will make people suspicious. youre better off being very open and generous with your praise of comics you love, and developing alliances with creators on your own level on the forums and by sharing the occasional heads up on the DMs.

theres also quite a few discord servers going around, and they can be brilliant. i got in on one back when it was an appear.in hangout, and not only was it really good for my work ethic (i was always on there while i drew, and it kept me on task so well) but i also now have a pretty tight circle of friends, and we swap advice and help eachother in many different ways in the comic-making process. so yeah, if you can handle groupchats, id recommend it.

Thank you so much for the reply!
I'll definitely have to try using a discord server sometime

Usually I make friends on here through forums, following comics and supporting other artists. I have use discord before. I know people from there and it's nice having that support as well. But I will be your friend if you want lol.

I'm happy to make new friends!

I'd say being active on the forums, also exchanging social medias, posting comments on their comics/novels, doing fanart or art trades.

Edit: Also you may want to link your work(comic/novel) on your forum profile! It helps people find you
If you want to be Instagram buddies we can follow eachother: @Beta1042

Engage with people on the forums, follow and support other creators, and connect with them on other forms of social media like twitter or instagram

It's a friendly bunch here!

I've been here since December 6th (that was when I started my novel), well on the forums I mean. From the short amount of time, I've been here. I think I have become friends with two people (I kinda treat friendship status like The Sims do xD) and talked with a lot of great people!

Everyone here is so friendly and I love it. So far I haven't run into any jerks on here. I may come off as a jerk sometimes just to let everyone know. Just so you know, if I start coming off like one, just going to let you know that I'm not trying to. I become abrasive when people try to prove me wrong.

Always start in the forums! Reply to threads that you like, reply to people, check out their work and go from there! I could honestly say that the entire forum is filled with just amazing people to talk to <3
