How you found your favorite webcomic

I ask for recommendations, or sometimes I find them through other websites like Reddit, other times it's through pure luck by searching through the fresh section on Tapas

I think I was searching randomly for comics and I found NiceToMeetYou (My favorite on Tapastic)

The name caught my attention and so did the artwork of Wishroom. That's what catches my attention with most things. The name has to be interesting and the art engrossing. Now, I didn't say you have to be a professional artist to catch my eye but it has to have a story behind it.

I found my favourite webcomics through Tapastic forums.

Through browsing the Fresh section actually. I check it at odd times of the day just to see what's uploaded, and I pick the ones with interesting thumbnails to look into. I've found some really neat series this way.

I also search through the Fresh section. I actually stopped looking at the "Popular" section because the stories are always the same.

A lot of my favorite comics on tapastic are made by people I've met here on the forums, and then occasionally other artists who have subscribed to my comic (I make a point to check out the profiles of everyone who subscribes), also if I see anything that catches my eye in fresh/trending/popular while I'm checking where my comic is at on those pages I'll usually give it a looksie. I've been finding a lot of great horror comics lately as a result of that last thing.

I've found that if you look in the trending/popular tabs for specific genres you get a much more diverse selection, especially in more niche genres like Sci-fi and Horror.

I do that for certain genres. I'm always looking for new Fantasy stories to read, so I usually look at that "Fresh" section. On the novel side, there aren't many options for new stories right now. I'm sure as Tapas gets more users that write, the amount of stories will go up.

Mostly through the popular and trending sections, it's how I found Strays and Please Be Merciful, two of the absolute best comics I'd seen on this website. I also found most of the comics I read and enjoyed through those two sections, but I've also lately gone digging through the comics section; bookmarking and reading anything sounding even remotely interesting.

I find mine mainly through manga sites or when I scroll through other artist Tumblrs/Twitters.

Makes sense, I haven't read any novels here yet, I'm a lot more picky/less interested in them than I am with comics. That said, I hope your readerbase grows allong with tapas's as the Novel section becomes more established!

This was maybe off topic, but I see you post a lot here with your concerns about growing an audience and I wanted to offer a bit of support I guess?

It's okay! You don't come off that way at all, your lack of readers is probably because of the novels being new, and comic people not liking books (that's why we make comics). Probably has nothing to do with the quality of your work. Even the big fish are having trouble right now.

My very, very first favourite webcomic was found through google image search of logo designs (toothpastefordinner) and my most recent favourites have been simply browsing about the Fresh section here on tapas. I'll click through title/keywords that grab my eye (thumbnail art's been misleading in my experience) and it's been amazing discovery mileage.

I'm a sucker for Mahou Shoujo and a certain Apricot kept popping up on trending when I first found this site. Now I look forward to reading Apricot Cookie(s) every Thursday... even when it distracts me from my own comics.

I completely agree... I enjoy the popular comics as well but the fresh section has really great hidden gems and have so much variety in stories
