Hi there!

Lately I had to modify the font of one of my comics 'cause I have discovered (way into the story) that the font that I was using wasn't free for commercial use.

After that I had to spend a fair amount of time to fix my mistake and finally ended up creating my own font, the 'Kotofont'.

It's a font that mimic a hand-written style, wrote in small caps and perfectly fit for comics.

If you want it you can download it for free from my website96.

After what happened to me I have decided that my font will be 100% free and open: you can modify it and use for anything, hopefully for commercial purposes too

PS: if you try it and experience any technical issue please get it touch!

Love, Koto :v:

This is so awesome. Thanks a lot! (I love colecting new fonts.) :fire::triumph:

Oh my... This is a valid point. Time to change all of my fonts... and ban music lyrics quotations. This would takes me a lot of time but I guess it's better to know now than later. Thank you Kotopopi.

Oof, that's a good point :open_mouth: Just looked more closely at the font I've used for the first 5 pages of my comic and discovered it's not free for commercial use... should fix that now rather than later! That font generation site is pretty nifty, messed around with it a little while back. I think I'll take the time to make a quality custom font as well ^^

Since you are giving the font away, you may want to upload it to Archive.org also.

P.S. Awesome job

thank you so much !
I also checked and turns out the font i am using is a freemium too v.v
Well ... gotta replace 90 pages now...

OMG Thank you!!

fun fact: I also use Cardenio Modern for my comic I really really love this font but I was looking for something else that works too. So yeah, thanks again!!

this seems to follow the disylxic font guidelines even. I will grab a copy later for retexting my comic and future pages. thanks so kindly for sharing with the community.

If you don't plan to sell your comic you don't need to, freemium is OK for PERSONAL USE.
If you plan to sell your comics you have to know that it is a grey area and it depends mainly on the creator of the font. So check out with the creator of your font first. It can be freemium and be ok for commercial use or not. My font didn't state clearly that it was also for commercial use. I tried to contact the creator and they never replied so my editor said that they weren't ok with a grey area kind of licence and made me do the change T_T

Ah knackers, I hadn't thought of this at all!
Thanks so much though Kotopopi, and for the software link
