Hello, everyone! This is my very first time joining a website to publish a comic ^^
I'm still new at making a comic so I would like to have some advice before I'll go further into this world
Please do be kind and check my newest and very first published comic, The Gate24.

It's a fantasy rated comic that took place in a modern time. I'm also pretty inconsistent on my artstyle tbh--
Please tell which panel would you like
and I would also like to have some tips to keep this comic running
I hope to get some critiques and motivation, thank you so much for your time ; u ;/

I'm hoping to use this artstyle tho:

Hi, @Satsuki98!

I find it difficult to critique your comic properly, because I am literally unable to read it. I'm on a desktop computer, and the text of your comic is so thin, AND it's white on black, that the narrative text is impossible for me to read. I imagine it's even more difficult for those using the mobile-version of the site. I suggest picking one font to stick to, and to make it a slightly bolder one so that the letters are easier to read against a dark background. I also suggest making what is now the smallest text slightly larger, which would also make it easier to read. White-on-black text is always more difficult to read than black-on-white, so you need to go the extra mile to make it readable.

As for the visuals, they are very, very dark. I'm assuming the first scene takes place at night, which would explain the darkness, but it is in fact so dark that it's difficult to tell what's going on. Perhaps consider using a slightly paler colour-scheme, so that it's easier to tell what's happening, and where the characters are?

Thank you so much, @AnnaLandin !
I'm actually pretty concern about the text I use, but somehow I can't choose one that fits the comic so well-- ummm
do you have any suggestions for fonts?
As for darker color, I'm truly sorry, I will put it a note on my next pages to be brighter than the old one ; u ;
Thank you for your time smile

I don't really have any suggestions for fonts, other than to go digging around among the free fonts on dafont.com and experiment a bit. I also noticed that your pages are all less than 940 pixels across. If you make the pages larger, that will certaunly improve readability on the desktop version of the site. : )

Alright! Thank you, @AnnaLandin ! smile
I was kind of use to make things small-- I'm not really good with big files actually ^^;;
But, I'll try to make it 940px on the next chapter then >u<
How about the art style? What do you think?

make your text larger because it's difficult and also stressfull to read.
the rest is ok

I agree with some of the other concerns here - the font is difficult to read at that size, and switching between multiple fonts might not work in your favour. I wouldn't switch between any more than 2 fonts tbh. I suggest going to a site like dafont.com or squirrelfont.com to find some fonts you can use that are more legible.

Good colours and overall flow of the rest. I actually thought the darker colours were cool and gave a certain vibe to it. And you've got a good 50 pixels or more available for width on each side - larger panels means more space for lettering. =]

Other than the font issue, I would check to make sure you are not overcompressing the file. I am not innocent in this because I just looked at some of my pages..some of the stuff looks great at 60% quality JPG, but other I can see artifacts (facepalm)..but the artifacts can distract people from reading as well.:)

For the font issue:
The constant switching between fonts is really jarring. I get what you were going for, but some of the words just end up seeming randomly emphasized? Also, the fancy calligraphic text seems really out of place next to the modern handwriting font you used, but I kind of like it. I'd actually suggest dropping the handwriting font and going for a serif font. Personally, I would say to keep that the whole way through, and don't switch fonts as much (although I did kinda like the font change when he was commanding the gate to open).
The colors were a bit dark at first, so I couldn't really see what was going on, but as I kept reading I realized that was done on purpose. I think the coloring is nice!
Overall, the comic looks promising and I'm eager to see more!
