To the thread topic: it takes time to build viewership and start earning back money from comics. That's why it's good to start early building up your online comic presence. Same with patreon. I'm a big advocate of starting a patreon campaign early and growing upon it with time.

I started out making $2 a month through taps ad revenue and over the 6 months since it started I've climbed to $7 a month. With time it'll only keep growing as long as i put the work in. Keep determined and keep up the hard work.

...heh, I've got like $2.50 to show for the last four or five months.. I forget when I started. I try not to look at it. I haven't attracted much attention on Tapastic honestly. Of course I have a day job and a family, and it doesn't leave a lot of time for self promotion. Also I'm old and the interwebs confuse and scare me.

Hey, the first time I looked at my counter, I was at a whopping $0.2! I made 3$ in my first month of using the ad-rev, but I'd already built up a readership by the time I signed up.

Three whole dollars! That's almost enough for a bus ticket around here!

Persistence is, as many have said, key. When I was only doing The Key to Reality I got like a few cents a day... Now I have both Bloodroot and TKTR rolling. Bloodroot is more popular and updates daily. I get something like $60 a month now! It's a nice add to what I get from patreon, which is around $100.

I have to agree that, for the most part, webcomics don't make a lot of money. We have discussed it many times on our podcast. I don't think that is being negative or disheartening. Honesty is not the same as negativity. plus ad revenue is not the only way to monetize. Chin up and keep going.

Ad revenue is not the only way to make money with your webcomic. As other have said, Patreon is a good way to get additional revenue while providing extra content for your subscribers. Several other ways would be to do commissions, and/or print your comic and sell it at conventions, which the latter is something I am planning to do this year, hopefully.

But please, don't give up! I know how disheartening it is to see something like that, but with time and perserverance, you'll find a way.

Gotta keep at the grind. Some days I don't make anything because of my comic Life of an Aspie infrequent almost sporadic updates, but in the past few months, I've made close to 80 cents in ad revenue. Sooooo close to having a dollars worth in ad revenue

Wow, well I have to thank this thread because, before this thread existed I didn't even know it was possible to make any ad revenue on Tapastic, you guys actually made me look at the "Ad" section of my dashboard. Wow what a dummy huh? Well I just activated it so watch out world! Maybe.
