I have a lot of pets....and I love to talk about them ^_^
My first one is an 8 year old female pit-bull/boxer named Daisy who we rescued at 1 year old from the animal shelter. She had a broken leg when the rescue workers found her in an alley at 6 months, and one of them took her home until her leg healed. Her name was given to her by this worker, and was originally Daisy Mae, but we shortened it when we adopted her.
My second pet is a 'pure-bred mutt' named Bo. He has some kind of terrier breed in him and several other breeds, but his mother was pure-bred Shih Tzu (or however it's spelled) My little sister was his original owner (it's my older sister now) but she was about 8 years old when we got him and was adamant on the name.
My second pet is a dog that the breeders are trying to get recognized as a Dakota Sports Retriever, and is 50% golden retriever, 25% American cocker spaniel, and 25% English cocker spaniel. Her name is Shylie, named after a dog my mother had before getting married . This name originated because, when my mom got Shylie original, she said about the dog "Oh, she did that so shy-ly!" about an action.
The fourth one is another Dakota Sports Retriever, cept he's 75% golden and 12.5% of each spaniel (the genetic combination makes them look like mini golden retrievers...it's kind of cool) and his name is Flynn. The breeders named him, so that's the story behind his name.
---and that was our dogs----
our first cat is a 12 year old silver tabby named Spike. Dad brought him home from work one day (i was only 7 at the time, so details might be blurred) because a coworker had a wild cat give birth to them in her back yard. She took care of them until they were old enough and then brought them to work to try and give them away and Dad took him. He was a really shy kitten, but Dad named him Spike "because he looked like he was a fighter" (and Dad couldn't have been more right...if Spike doesn't like it (namely Daisy) he'll claw it)
Schmitty is our other, 7 year old grey and white cat. He looks like Tom from the carton Tom and Jerry. His name originated because he was a stray cat that lived down at the end of our street, and he'd follow us around on our paper route that we used to have. Mom took a liking to him and brought him home one day and he never left. Since he 'adopted us', we had to name him. We couldn't decite between Socks or Mittens (since he's a darker grey with white paws), and one of my sisters suggested Smittens. We liked it, but shortened it to Schmitty (Mom chose the spelling)
-----now onto our birds ^^-----
at the moment we have 3 budgies, a green and yellow one, a blue and black one, and an odd, teal, yellow, and sky blue one.
The green and yellow one is our only female one, and we named her Bloody Mary, or Mary for short (since Mom doesn't like the Bloody Mary too much). She earned this name, because we owned 5 other budgies before her, and she was the first of them all to draw blood. I think it was a fluke because she hasn't drawn blood since, but doesn't change the fact that she made my sister bleed.
Our blue and black one (with some white) is named Sonic, after Sonic the Hedgehog. He was a rescue bird, having been given to a local pet store because the owner was an older woman who was no longer able to care for him. We don't know what his original name was, but he was the exact same blue as Sonic the Hedgehog, thus the name.
The other one is a odd aqua green with some yellow, teal, and sky blue mixed in. We named him Zora, after the Zora race from Legend of Zelda because his coloration reminded us of them (the ones from OoT and MM)
(there's a pale blue bird on the floor of the cage who died about a week ago, and this picture is months old...his name was Peachy, because that's the first thing I called him after getting him. The other three are perched near each other on the right side...I need a better picture >.<)
----that's it for the birds!----
I have a Red Eared Slider turtle who's about 1 1/2 years old (he's about the size of my palm, so still small). The person who I got him from named him Kiwi, but the name didn't roll off the tongue, so to say. I ended up renaming him Turt. Turt the turtle. Kind of an odd name, but it's what I started calling him and it's what stuck. With the turtle are several fish, though I won't go into details about them. most of them are generic, the most outstanding one being a tinfoil barb (aptly named Barb) that likes to eat Turt's food. The two are about the same size, so they're competition for each other.
I think this sums up all my pets who are name-worthy (cuz fish really aren't, except for the few unique ones)....I know you said it didn't have to be long winded like yours, but I have lots of pets and a love for writing XD
