Haha oh dear, I am coming up on 26 in short order, and I like to imagine this still puts me squarely in the category of "young talent" but I've noticed that most "youth artist development" programs seem to disagree with me... x')
I was one of those grades-obsessed life sciences majors who came into university with a few scholarships, and worked as a research assistant in the psychology department for a while. Then I had this revelation that the starving artist narrative was a lie, and much to the disappointment of my immigrant family- pivoted to working in graphic design and illustration in the corporate and small business world before it was "too late". Still never got any formal arts education, but I've found being self-taught with a "sciences" background does seem to have its advantages too. I do still get a lot of raised eyebrows for it though...
Now I live with my partner, and we find ways to balance things and make ends meet. I've worked on several shorter comics, and will likely continue to make comics for anthologies, but Kingdom of Sunlight is my first really "big" passion project that I hope to produce for many years to come. Wish me luck? :3
