Strangely enough, the thing I think I'm most proud of as an achievement isn't directly writing-related but more about the language.
So a bit of backstory to this: I was originally writing in my native language and only switched over to writing in English back in 2018. I was a bit worried because our education system sucks and my English wasn't nearly as good as it should have been. But I started out over on webnovel where not even the staff is able to write proper English so I thought 'screw it!' and just tried.
Now, this went more or less well and there was an improvement but I got into a really rough spot because my health declined. Aka, I wasn't able to type anymore in 2019. I was used to doing 100k words every month, had several projects running at once but I just couldn't anymore. My hands would start to hurt like hell whenever I tried, sometimes after just a few minutes. Writing really became a chore which did make me panic because it's been one of the few things I've continued enjoying to do even after many years.
Since there really was no way around it I finally got myself a speech-to-text software. Problem is: My spoken English is much, much worse than my written English. It's to the point where people have trouble understanding what the heck I'm saying. It's something I've known for a long time but not early enough to do much about it. Well, I did say the education system here sucks. Somebody should have probably noticed that before I spent more than half a decade learning English.
Anyway, I was very afraid that this would make using the software impossible which would have been bad since, well, for one I wouldn't know how to continue writing, and the software also wasn't that cheap.
In the end, it turned out surprisingly well for writing and - here finally comes the point I was trying to make - my English pronunciation has gotten much better since I started using it
Like, I know there are still words I mispronounce but it happens less often. There are some words where I need two or three tries to get the right one but the more often they turn up, the faster I remember "Ah, no, this is pronounced differently from what you thought!" so I can correct myself. Honestly, I'm just feeling so happy whenever I think about it
TL;DR: I was forced by my health to get a speech-to-text software but my English was crap. After a year of using it, I can write and my English leveled up.
And in case anybody was wondering: Yes, my hands did get better as well after several months of not abusing them anymore.
