When you write novels or draw comics, do you listen to instrumentals/ epic scores? Music with little to no lyrics. I find that my fellow fantasy writers do this a lot, but what about other genres?

My favorite is by Danny Elfman, who fuels some of my future scenes in *cough***A Narrator's Role1. Feel free to link down in this thread, music and/or works, I love suggestions and reads inspired by music!

Anime and VGM OSTs for me. Huge fan of the My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, and Naruto: Shippuden soundtracks for anime specifically. In video games, I really enjoy Zelda (any OST from that series, really), FEZ, and Stardew Valley.

I have a big playlist where I've compiled all of my favorite instrumental music. It's got (lemme check) 286 pieces so far, and it's only growing.

Honestly, I listen to instrumentals in the car like how regular people listen to pop/rock on the radio. I'm afraid that in the future, if I'm riding with friends and they hand me the aux cord, I'll let them down with some Mattia Cupelli...

I only recently discovered Mattia Cupelli, (amazing music!) so you wouldn't disappoint me xD

yesss. some of my fave scores to play while writing:

everythink jack de quidt

also, honourable mention to the black panther soundtrack. it dont rly fit the vibe for anything i write, but its just.. an exceptional piece of scoring

ive also found myself listening to a lot of adrian von ziegler for fantasy

I absolutely adore Pan's Labyrinth and Adrian Von Ziegler. You all have great ears for muses.
