Is anybody currently meeting the requirements for Patreon sponsorship on Line Webtoon?

I'm not sure why different language websites would really matter. Again, they're the one's saying they want to do more to get the word out, being lazy about it sure isn't helping. Like I said I thought those ideas up in 3 minutes, I'm sure if they actually cared they could think of something that would work too. But having written websites in the past, I really don't think most of my suggestions are that complicated to implement.

I work as a website designer too and I know it’s not that big of a change to write up some query to pull newly updated comics. But every change just needs to run through a group decision to make sure if that is good or not. I feel like the “fresh” section on Webtoon is already working fine, there is no need to cluster the front page.

As far as I know the chance of being seen on Webtoon has always been “good” it’s just that recently the recommendation and weekly round up starts to show sign of repetitive and that is something on the staffs not entirely the website’s fault.

im on agree that give names so openly is complicated, but I believe that what allison and the others were trying to say is that the possible 'cheating' is the same titles gaining many and many spotlights for neverending moths. Of course the authors has their merits, but it's easier to get more track if you're always higlighted. No matter how good you are, if people don't know you exist, you're not getting attention. I understand they promote those people to generate more and more traffic, but... it's tiresome. Both as an author and as a reader. But well, what can we do? That's the internet's logic: if you're already popular, everything comes for you, if you're not, you need to find a way to go through this. I already gave up. I'll keep working and wait for the best.

It may suck to hear this, but due to the nature of the webtoons patreon pledge program, it makes no financial sense for them to spotlight a larger variety of discover creators. If they did, these creators would become eligible for higher pledges and webtoons would lose money faster. Money can be productive, or it can corrupt, depending on what systems rule it and what systems it rules. In this case, it corrupts.

Another problem that arises with this type of setting is that when a single set sum is on the table and it is to be shared among many creators, it creates a sense of competition and jealousy among creators. And their fans too. It causes a more toxic community in general. We saw it with Inkblazers: since the featured creators would split a specific sum of money, there would be a lot of shittalking behind each others' backs and fans that attacked featured creators they thought didn't deserve a bite of the cookie that they wanted their preferred creator to have.

Basically, the type of creative monetization system Webtoon currently has is not financially, morally or socially stable in the long run and we can only hope that the "new ways to monetize your comic" they are working on will perform better.

A better performing monetization system would be one like what tapas or patreon has: Your earnings are the immediate result of the money your content pulls into the business, after fees removed. No more, no less.
With a system like such, it would begin to make more financial sense for the site to promote more content. Yes, the bestsellers would still be promoted the most and that's something we all gotta deal with BUT since it would make more sense to promote more creators they are more likely to do so.

I'm not sure I understand this logic. Like they have set aside a certain amount of money they will give away. Whether they give away big chunks to a few, or small chunks to many, doesn't really change how much they are going to spend on this entire situation. It's a set amount of money, they're not saving money one way or another.

The webtoons patreon pledge program is quite obviously intended as a marketing technique. The longer it lasts, the more they get out of their money. Thus, if the money runs out faster, they will have wasted their money on lesser marketing.

Limiting the comics they promote is not a good long term strategy. Overall if people always go to discover and see the same stuff every time, they're going to lose interest. The best way to keep steady traffic is to provide new content.

No it isn't, but the patreon pledge program isn't intended for long term either. I have a feeling we will see a very different way the site is being run and different nature in stats overall once it ends and "more ways to monetize your comic" enters the picture. I am assuming ad revenue, but it's hard to tell.

Dude, we just want the staff to be less lazy and change the spotlights once in a while. They are promoting comics that aren't being updated since january. Nobody here wants to hunt famous creators. They won't go in bakrupt if they do their work. But whatever.

I'm not defending webtoon. I'm saying it's possible they aren't "lazy" but rather that they realized a couple weeks in that promoting discover creators sucked out their money faster, so that's why they stopped.

Negative I am pointing out here: money corrupts if the system makes corruption the most profitable alternative.

Positive I am pointing out here: when the patreon pledge program ends and other monetization means enter the picture we might see more discover comics being promoted, because then there will be a profit to it for webtoon.

Right now more money in our pockets means less in theirs.
If webtoon introduces ads and an ad rev program, then more money in our pockets will mean more money in theirs.

I'm not saying this is good, I'm not defending webtoon, I'm not saying we should be happy with this. I am just pointing out an alternative cause and future lookout of this problem.

Lets also remember that there IS money here for webtoon to save. If I recall correctly, before the patreon pledge program was extended, webtoon had more money left than they budgeted for it initially. It's possible they are hoping for a similar outcome, I.E the money lasting until the program runs out and them having leftover money to use on other stuff or keep.

My stats have sucked since the change too and I still struggle to gain subs. I struggle to pay the bills. I don't like this situation any more than you do. I'm just pointing out how business sometimes works so we can adress it accurately from an objective perspective.

Someone complained that recommended title always pick romance and the same cute artstyle. It's not fair for other genres, then the next day recommended title change all of the title to various genre.
It's the same for fresh pick, i remember they change frontpage banner after we complain here too.

And do you know about crosspromotion thread? More than 5 title from there get in to discover frontpage

I met the requirements for the first time and I should have received a small pledge, but I don't know how much money I had in there before, so I'm not sure if they sent it or not. There's no message or anything. My name is in the list for last month, but is there a way to tell for sure?

@SapphireLuna They dont tell you, you just check and the dosh is there. You need to know how much you had before, to be sure when they pay you. Congrats for meeting the requirements!

Go to menu, then choose payout preferences. On the top right corner you can see your total amount and a button, below, to transfer tk paypal!

First I am hearing of Webtoons!! Thanks for letting me know there are more places to post!
I am not too new here but new compared to many. I have had no luck in promoting my comic. Or maybe Im just not that great at it. Seems hard to get the number of subs but I could see it being easy also if you're popular and get shared a bunch. It would be great to get paid to create my comic! Soon come!
I am digging Taps.io but have nt built a fanbase or really understand how to. I am consistant and upload every week tho. maybe a different day would be better?!? Would love to know more people with more followers and maybe get some advice. Ill continue on in the forums and try my best!
