Is having the same name as a licensed good/entity alright?

It depends on what it is and the trademark behind the name.

If your character can be confused with another character, you are infringing on copywrite. The problem if if they take you to court, you will have to prove you aren't confusing people.

“Larvae”, it’s taken by a band; but I got it from like a butterfly transformation. Should I change the name of my comic?

Original all the way I'd say. It's much easier to find like in general. And now I am talking when you're choosing your artist name and as well as for titles for any series you create. It's so much easier to find you and your series if you have a very unique name/a rather uncommon set of a title. If you choose something really common or smth which is too close to a big "title" you rather go unseen or never going to be found.

I think you might be OK. Looking it up, I am mostly get images of bugs.

Usually with copyright, you don’t want to overlap and cause brand confusion. If you started a band called Larvae, then you might get in trouble. Common words are harder to fully copyright across the board. Heck, there is a band called America.

This reminds me of The Secret of NIMH. In the book the mouse’s name is Mrs Frisby. When they made it into a movie they had to change her name to Mrs Brisby because Frisby was trademarked.

I think you’d be OK with Larvae though. Larvae is a common word and it’s be hard to trademark it
