Is inktober worth it? To you?

I did it for the first time last year, thought it was pretty fun~ as others have said I think it really depends on how much is on your plate outside of the challenge and how seriously you take it. If you have tons of other stuff going on, it's not really worth. But if you have time for it and approach it casually I think it can be fun

I do admit to falling into the pitfall that @c0ldw1nter theorized about, where a fair portion of the images I drew last year were either quick sketches or just mid-to-low quality. Some days I just didn't have time to do something nice lol. Completed all 31 days, but some pictures I completed over 2 days or were just "throwaway doodles".

Even so, going to tackle it again this year! Ballpoint pen is actually my favorite doodling medium anyways xD

Currently- no. I'm usually busy working on my comic every October, and dont have any extra time to work on Inktober.

I've tried it before... I think it's good for illustrators (and comic artists!) because it teaches you habits/diligence.

However, I've found that I can teach myself that. Having a challenge makes it feel like I can just STOP and throw away that discipline as soon as it's over.

For me, it's a waste of time. I would rather be spending that time working on my comics

It's a great excuse to buy new inking supplies, though ;D

I only did it once in 2016 but it was pretty good. I amended the challenge a bit and challenged myself to make a one-shot comic, which was super-helpful for me in the long run.

Inktober is pretty good for exposure if you're making good work. If you're a newer artist and have yet to really finish a substantial set of work I think it's an excellent chance to try to push yourself to a higher level - so long as you really approach it in earnest.

In a way, I usually do those challenges? Worth it. I just do the prompts whenever I have time without stress that I'll fail. After all it's only a fun challenge and not the most important thing in the world. Some prompts are things that I've never drawn before, so that's also practice.

I mean, if it's something you want to try, there's no harm in trying! If there's a day where you just don't have time, you can just, skip a day! No one's grading you!!

I've never finished an inktober -- but every inktober I've attempted resulted in cool art that I wouldn't have made otherwise. One year I literally only managed two ink drawings, but I'm still proud of them. So I'm all for it!!

I did Inktober last year and lasted for a week, where my drawings got progressively lazier with each round. My last one was literally done on my math homework and I threw it out in shame.

But really, I think it’s a good way to get into the habit of doing one specific thing every day. It can also help with time management skills. And maybe you’ll be way better at Drawing traditionally by the time November begins!

Like most people here, I just don't have the time or the desire. For a daily challenge, I would much rather keep a themed sketch journal like we had in college. Our drawing instructor gave each student a lemon, and we had to draw it differently every day for the entire semester.

Merh- May be ? But not for the good reasons ?
I do inktober with the hope to : 1- finish my summer sketchbook with ~ 12 pages left in order to make a sketchbook tour for the first time; 2- May be gain some followers on Instagram and create traffic on my page. I do draw every single day so consistency isn't my major concern. 3- May be completing half of the challenge for once because I've never done more than 7 days.
However, I tend to have pretty much high standard in term of illustrations. I could do simpler illustration with a more easy style and not feel tired the next days because I fell asleep at midnight instead of reasonable hours because I wanted to complete and post inktober on a busy day. May be I am pushing too hard. Merh-
Also ... I don't have a webcomic to update daily that makes things easier.

I do it 'coz it's good exercise for me to get back to drawing. This is my first year doing it.

I contemplated doing Inktober to come up with some concept art, but my comic and my roguelike are currently swallowing up all my time. Perhaps I'll still do the concepts on an as-needed basis.

This is the second year I'm trying it. I ran out of time and got only 7 sketches finished the first year, but they were done traditionally and I saw it as an opportunity to practice inking by hand, and to do something different that I rarely do.

I was reluctant to get into this challenge because I work full time and already need to spend a lot of free time on my comic pages, but I don't practice sketching very much outside of the sketches that I make for my comic pages.

This year, I'm not sure if I'll have enough time for traditional inking, but inking digitally freehand is still a challenge for me because I work mainly with vectors. Drawing freehand requires me to be more careful with making sure I get proportions and perspective correct on my first try because those are more difficult to correct. Because I always sketch my pages before vectoring them, improving the sketches means fewer corrections need to be made, and I can make pages more efficiently.

I definitely think so!

I know there's the rule of doing Ink-Tober in just ink (brush ink, pen ink, whatever), but I still do my digital art because I use it as a time to practice.

It gives out great prompts that help with creativity and imagination. So even if you're not using ink or improving your use of ink, you still ARE improving your ability to take a prompt and make it yours.

At least that's how I see it and utilize it!

I've thought of it as a way of learning how to draw comics. For that it might be worth it.
