First time seeing this "meme", but i get the feeling whoever thought of this just threw in "adopted" so it would sound kind of funny. It doesn't, but I see some truth in it. To be honest, as an introvert I don't know any ways of making friends apart from having that extroverted friend who acts like …

It's a guy with a helmet, sitting at a dinner table with food in front of him. Can't possibly eat with a helmet, can you..? It's metaphorical, and the moral is this: some of the nicest things in life you can only enjoy while being true to yourself.

@craftymarten It caught my eye how the prologue and pages after the cover have different layout styles. There's lots of gaps in the prologue, which causes you to scroll vigorously.. Lots of comics do that, of course, I'm just not a fan of that; and it gets more concise after that. The pictures are n…

Seems lacking somehow. I think I'll do another one soon. Tell me what you think? [image]

I anticipate doing some of that later on, and what I'll probably do is jump straight from one form to another in 2 panels, if there's no struggling involved. Much like page 17 of my comic (bottom panel): https://tapas.io/episode/1194714 If there IS struggling involved, and you wanna show that, one…

Sounds like there's envy and frustration going on. Not so unusual when learning arts. I'd just give some emotional support instead of advice, unless he specifically asks for it.

Mostly I can't ever get them to work for me. I rather refer to photos or do massive trial and error marathons. And for learning software, I just use official docs, probably a habit from being a programmer...

Only ever had two minor data losses, and I still haven't made peace with that. Although they were only minor because I knew what to do to salvage most of the data back. If the storage hasn't fried or exploded or anything like that, there may still be a chance!

Actually, I've had a lot of experience in getting cold reactions, instead of giving them. And boy, am I now envious for all the thoughtfulness some people receive. It is the thought that counts, and not the item. Troll gifts can be overkill though.

That's quite sophisticated. Doesn't it take a lot of time to create?

Agree to Meguro Shōji, I liked his soundtracks in Persona specifically.. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpzbr3vCBjw Lately coming back to all the visual kei rock, like Penicillin's Brand New Lover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM3N9FqqNMg And LM.C in general, can't seem to find many…

You could use real photos. Just trace/filter it heavily, so it looks drawn... The problem is finding the right photos. OR you can make a big generic background picture, let's say city skyline with lots of same-ish buildings, and pick a random zoomed part for every new panel, so it looks new. Th…

So the replies are kinda mixed.. But most people do at least know where their story is going. Which isn't a surprise. I personally have just key events in mind, then lots of sidetracky bits, which I can put in whenever I feel like... But I don't really think more than 2 pages ahead when drawing, i…

Review for Luma : Well shaded. Another link for the chain....

4.4. Although the quiz, I suspect, refers to one's own ideas only... I'm not very good at letting others influence me, heh.

For story-driven comics, do you plan everything in advance, i.e. sequences of events, or even make storyboards with panel layouts? If so, how far before you draw it? Also, do you tend to change planned contents according to reviews or comments?

Why are our eyes naked?

Without spoiling the future, all I can say is: What is happening? ..

Self-taught, like most (probably). Used to trace things, which proved useful in understanding proportions.. Then moved on to copying from eye, and finally I can sort of draw from imagination. Still doing lots of backtracking and ctrl+z'ing... If i streamed my drawing process, it'd probably be a laug…

You're right about the tropes. Superheroes never really appealed to me, even as a kid.. I don't hate them, by any means, but there's lots and lots of them, and the concept doesn't ever change that much. Crime, justice, blahblahblah. I'm sure there are unique exceptions, but you really have to look f…

Well, it has much to do with image interpolation. Photoshop, for example, has the ability to change interpolation type, and apparently the best one to go with when shrinking is "bicubic sharper" (not sure if that's a photoshop exclusive feature, but just bicubic would do nicely). If you find a way t…

This is the first ever work I've published, and there's lots of things I'm wondering about: The art style has been evolving through the pages, is it noticeable? (If so, is that bad?) Does the pacing make sense? Are the events easy to follow - does the story make sense? (things left unexplained on…

Personally, I like covers without too much clutter. I made one that just depicts the main character(s), vague scenery of the world and title logo, using colors reflecting the mood of the comic. Kinda straight to the point. Check it out if you like.

"Job" being the keyword here. I guess that means you're a professional artist. From my point of view, finding a well paid job that you love is a pie in the sky. You should evaluate your choices and take the best job within your reach, as in the best compromise between money and your passion toward…

I think stories are best when they don't get ahead of themselves, this way readers can interpret them in their own way. I don't leave comments on pages, give no insight at all, so this can happen. So spoiling is a big no-no. And about feedback... Well, I've over 20 pages already and there's still pr…

Yep. But drawing's just a hobby for me, whereas some people I admire are pros. So no shame in losing to them. And seeing their stuff makes me wanna improve. I'd actually want to meet a hobbyist rival with similar style, so we can compete and compare. (If someone seeing this thinks the same, check …

Never bothered to check what that is until now. First thoughts: no, for several reasons. Posting daily means the quality won't be all that good, considering you've other things on your agenda. I'd rather use that time to improve on my main work, which usually includes inking anyway. And if lots of o…

If you start from something like an ongoing conflict, it can be hard to follow. But if the next pages explain the crucial details before the reader forgets them, it's all cool. It can be really tricky to keep the story interesting while purposely withholding details.. I've taken an easy intro approa…
